Bradley Beal (Florida)

2011 Gatorade Nat'l POY.

"I was surprised. Being named national player in the year, out of all the great players in our class and the history behind this, it's a blessing and an honor," Beal said. "I was shocked out of my mind... This award is great," said Beal. "This is one of the best awards I've ever received."

As a senior, he averaged 32.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game in leading the Red Devils to a 27-1 record and an appearance in the state quarterfinals. He also made 71 percent of his 2-point field-goal attempts and 49 percent of his 3-point attempts.

"I think Brad Beal has an unbelievable resume as a winner, as a teammate and as a go-to guy," said Dave Telep, senior recruiting analyst for ESPN. "He has an advanced scoring package that begins with his mid-range and extends to 3-point range. … It's not just a mid-range game. It's a mid-range arsenal."

A McDonald's All-American, Beal scored a game-high 17 points to help lead the East team to a win. He made 7 of 14 shots in the game, grabbing five rebounds to go with four assists and just one turnover.,4986247.story

Re: Bradley Beal (Florida)

I don'tthink he will be a point guard and not amazing athletically via Wade but undersized for a 2 guard. With all that said, this guy is so skilled and I really like the intelligence he plays with so I think he will still succeed in the NBA. I think Eric Gordon is the comparison but Gordon is a better athlete while Beal will be a more consistent shooter.
I would say Ben Gordon but BG has had some negativity associated with him in recent seasons so that's why I didn't use him.

Re: Bradley Beal (Florida)

Just based on body type and style of play, I'd also say Eric Gordon or Ray Allen makes the most sense. I think he has a decent reputation on defense tho(for now at least), which is why i dont think i've seen too many Ben Gordon comparisons... He just looks taller and longer than BG. BG plays like he is 6'1" or 6'2", this kid looks a legit 6'3"-6'4" imo, so i think physically he would be fine in the league @ the 2.

He's very good athletically. Maybe not elite, but more than good enough.

He looked really really good at the Nike Hoops Summit

Re: Bradley Beal (Florida)

Call me crazy, but I think he's the best guard prospect in 2012. I'd take him over Lamb, Teague, Kabongo, Turner, or Rivers in a second for the long term.

He's a lot better athlete than I previously thought.

Re: Bradley Beal (Florida)

So according to Chad Ford's research:

Florida Gators wing Bradley Beal has moved into the position of the consensus No. 2 player in the draft. About 70 percent of the GMs and scouts I surveyed now have Beal at No. 2 on their big boards. Beal's NBA body, excellent athletic ability, sweet shooting stroke and winning attitude have scouts convinced that his floor is Eric Gordon and his ceiling may be Ray Allen.
But that's just me.

Crazy. Looks like the Cavs are going to jump the Wizards to get him too, with the Bobcats getting their man Robinson at 4 plus an early 2nd rounder.
