Shane Larkin - PG - Miami (FL)

I know he's tiny, but man do I love this kid's game. I think he could be very special. Lightning quick, very good shooter, good finisher around the rim, great defender at the college level but his size will present challenges at the next level. I just love the way he plays, the way he controls the tempo, picks his spots to attack. He just knows how to play winning basketball.

Shane Larkin

Thoughts on Barry's kid?

Do you think he should come out this year? I mean Miami is playing about as well as they can right now. I want to go back and check out some more video on him, but I agree with your sentiments. He seems to be everything you'd want from your starting PG (unless you need a Rose/Westbrook type)...though he could stand to improve his passing.

Re: Shane Larkin - PG - Miami (FL)

I do think he should come out, especially if he leads them on a lengthy tournament run. Miami won't be very good next year, he'd be the only significant contributor from this year's team returning. You definitely should watch some more film on him, and not just highlights. Watch a couple games so you can really appreciate the feel for the game he has. Today's game, yesterday's game, both of the Duke games, the FSU game in Tallahassee.

He's been nearly unstoppable in the pick and roll in ACC play this year.

He is legit. And he should come out this year no doubt. 1 Miami's roster is full of veterans, which has mostly contributed to their success (they have a ton of size, and are comprised of a lot of juniors and seniors) so like hobo said, they are peaking now. And 2, the class is weak overall. He should strike while the iron is hot.

Come out. Not sure if he's going to be a good pro though. Seems like an NBA backup at best. Perhaps he could be a better passing Barea (short, quick change of pace player).

I've definitely been wrong before, but I think his ceiling is much higher than that. Besides the obvious size issue, what questions do you have with him? No big holes in his game, intangibles are off the charts. Just another reason why he should come out now though, he's not going to be any taller this time next year, so why go back?

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd take him ahead of Carter-Williams and Burke.

I've ignored Miami for the most part, but size is a big question with anyone under 6'. Also, I'm sure I like him more than MCW, but I looooooove Burke. I guess he has the same size concerns though, but they are about the same in terms of scoring with Burke at a much higher usage; Burke also assists more and turns the ball over less.

Shane Larkin just recorded the 2nd-highest max vertical leap since 2000-- 44 inches. Wow.

Dallas and Utah should take a good hard look at him at the end of the lottery.

Re: Shane Larkin - PG - Miami (FL)

I really like Larkin at that area of the draft, especially if you're Utah and it's an area of desperate need. I don't know that he can be a quality starter, but I feel really good about saying he will be able to play a significant role in the NBA. His level of skill is impressive and he has very good athletic ability. On top of that he should get better.
