Cards pack a wallop
In the same situation with the same score two innings earlier Monday, Albert Pujols had struck out, the rarest feat of all for him this season. But given a second chance, Pujols did what even his teammates have come to expect from him during this pyrotechnic season.
He gave the folks sitting in the newly opened left field seats a view of what they've missed so far this season.
Pujols launched a two-out, three-run homer in the seventh inning to upend Houston's one-run lead and win the game for the Cardinals 3-1. A burr for the Cardinals suits this season has been that the replays of so many of his history-making homers have featured an expanse of empty seats because 4,176 seats remained unopened until Monday.
As if playing to the new house - full for the first time - Pujols' 25th home run soared high, arcing at the height of the new seats. Replays will have a nice pan of the packed place. Houston's left fielder Chris Burke gave chase as if to catch it at the warning track.
