Cubs getting whole new feeling
Now that the Cubs have won two games in a row for the second time in the last 32 games, they only need to go 70-41 in the remaining 111 games to win 90 games and perhaps have a chance at the National League wild card.
But after Tuesday night's 8-3 victory over Cincinnati, offensive standout Jacque Jones (a homer and three-run double) emphasized his restructured mental approach to the rest of his season, and winner Greg Maddux spoke of a much-needed mind cleansing that transpired in Monday's pregame team meeting. These Cubs have had far more Mission Impossible sequels than Tom Cruise, although few have been successes.
"I'm starting to have fun again, starting to enjoy playing the game and not worry so much about trying to impress people and worry about things I can't control,'' Jones said. "I figured it couldn't get any worse than what I was doing. I could only go up. I made some mistakes and I have acknowledged them. I've never run away from admitting I make mistakes.
