You ran into the same problem I did (I fixed mine by losing Hawpe from Colorado and including Giles) of not having a Padre on your roster. Also Giles isn't having a typical Giles year, (only hitting .250 with 3 HR's).

meh, my thread is better. I went with the actual # of players on an All-Star game roster (32) and included a player from every team.

lol @ Wink not having one Yankee starting. I rather read a thread that's non-bias.

I'll admit I should have had A-rod starting over Glaus, I just felt that A-rod would feel more at home batting later in the game when it might be out of reach. That way he can hit another meaningless homerun.

And Jeter and Tejada could have gone either way if you ask me. If you don't like my line-up make one of your own.

I would have A-Rod starting over Glaus, and Jeter in there as well. Your lineup is pretty accurate, I'm just busting your chops.

Major disagreements: Alex Rodriguez should be starting, Josh Beckett has been terrible this year and has no business near an All-Star game, John Lackey should get the call instead.

Minor disagreements: Eric Chavez should get the nod over Glaus; Glaus is hitting a bit better, but Chavez has a .900 OPS and is the best defensive third baseman in the league. I'd put Buehrle in over Contreras, as Contreras' numbers seem flukish.

Major disagreements: In a weak shortstop class, I wouldn't put in three shortstops, two who seem to be putting up fluky numbers. I'd go with Renteria and Vizquel. Vizquel is putting up fluky numbers, too, but at least he has a plus glove. I would certainly not put Holliday in over Beltran. Beltran is the better player and has only slightly worse offensive numbers despite Holliday batting in the best offensive environment this side of the moon.

Minor disagreement: I'd put Zambrano on the team (with the extra spot from cutting a shortstop). He's having a very good year and is one of the top pitching talents in the game.

Overall, it should be pretty clear that I value getting the best players into the game over flukish half-season wonders, unless the "best player" is having a horrible year and simply doesn't merit it.

I just thought it was interesting how you had trouble including somebody from every team with 32 roster spots hehe

Re: Your All-Star Team

Have you looked at the Royals roster? Or the Padres, neither Giles or Grudzeilanek deserve to be hall of famers, and I had to leave quality players off in order to get them in.

Who gives a ****e if Grudzeilanek deserves a Hall spot? The man is one of the hottest hitting 2B in baseball this year! He's an All Star! Seriously...

As for the Padres I understand that Jake Peavy has been giving up more runs than usual, but look at his stellar WHIP. It shows that he isn't pitching NEARLY as bad as his ERA suggests. Mostly giving up big hits, just not many. His numbers will come down, hence my choosing him for my ASTeam over Giles as the Padres rep.

IN ADDITION... If you don't like Peavy or Giles...
TREVOR HOFFMAN - HALL OF FAMER. Bingo. He qualifies under your requirements AND he has a 1.35 ERA/0.90 WHIP to go with his 12 saves.

Dilemmas solved.
