MLB radical realignment proposal

Major League Baseball realignment is probably going to happen.
Right now, there are talks to split the AL and NL into two 15-team leagues with no divisions
Houston Astros would move

Re: MLB radical realignment proposal

I'm still waiting for TPTB to pull their heads out of their ass and either use the DH everywhere or eliminate it. And make all ballparks the same-size dimensions while you're at it.

Not sure what I think about no divisions. Although I don't mind seeing the Astros move to the AL. It makes sense.

Makes sense, but the cost of getting ballparks to comply with such a rule would large I figure.

Re: MLB radical realignment proposal

It'd be dumb to do away with divisions. Just move teams around or a team to AL, not that hard.

But yeah, make DH full time. No one wants to see the pitcher hit.

Different dimensions in the ball parks is what makes it unique. Only teams that should move their fences in some is Mariners and Padres cuz that's ridiculous.

I hate the idea of uniform baseball fields. Part of the charm of baseball's physics is the unique geometry of the baseball parks. Of course, as every new park looks like Fenway I get to be smug.

If the league had a uniform baseball field size... the Red Sox would have lose an extra 5-10 games per year.

Astros in the AL East = Astros never winning a World Series.

How would a 15 team league work? One team in each league would just have three days off in a row all the time?

Since both leagues would have 15 my assumption is that you'd constantly have an interleague series going.

Personally I'm not crazy about anything that's been put forward thus far.

I think that's rather dumb and devalues interleague as it is.

Re: MLB radical realignment proposal

I've never been particularly fond of interleague play... I guess I like seeing the White Sox play the Cubs, but there was something cool about the fact that the teams meeting in the world series had played against different competition all year and obviously hadn't faced each other.
