Fan dies after fall at Rangers game

Quote:
An unidentified adult male passed away Thursday after falling approximately 20 feet from section 5 in the left field lower reserved seats to the area behind the out-of-town scoreboard at Rangers Ballpark.

"We are deeply saddened that the man who fell has passed away as a result of this tragic accident," Rangers president Nolan Ryan said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

There were no other people injured. The fan fell in the second inning while leaning over the front-row railing trying to catch a ball that had been tossed into the stands by left fielder Josh Hamilton.

Re: Fan dies after fall at Rangers game

Wow, if you watch the video, his kid basically saw him fall to his death. This is very, very tragic.

Quote:
"When they had him on a stretcher and they were carrying him out, he was saying stuff like 'Please check on my son, he's left up there by himself.'" Athletics reliever Brad Ziegler said. "The people that carried him out reassured him that, 'We'll get your son, we'll make sure he's OK.' We just kind of assumed that he's talking, he's conscious, he'll be okay. To find out he's not is just ... tough."

Sad story. Especially with his kid watching him fall. Horrible.

Yikes, that has got to be torturous. Obviously it was not his fault, just a freak accident, but god damn that is terrible.

Re: Fan dies after fall at Rangers game

I'm worried about everybody involved in this, of course, but I'm curious as to how Hamilton is taking this, considering nobody has thought about it, and knowing his past. I hope he doesn't blame himself.

Re: Fan dies after fall at Rangers game

I don't know what feels worse, losing a father or realizing your father is a retard of a human being.

When you're told not to lean over the railings, don't lean over the ****ing railings. People are calling this a freak accident. Really? If it's really a freak accident then why are there signs everywhere telling people not to do what he did? This is the same as those signs near ponds telling people not to dive. There are #$$holes that drown every year because they don't do what they're told.

I do feel bad for Hamilton. It's like driving a car and running over some dude that's jaywalking. It's not your fault but you feel bad for killing somebody. I feel bad for the paramedics that had to clean up after this idiot pancaked himself. I feel bad for the fans that paid good money to see a game and had their day ruined.
