Re: Your NL MVP

1. Fielder 2. Braun 3. Kemp

Braun and Fielder could easily be swapped but they are having incredible years and doing it for one of the best teams in the league, Kemp is top 5 in pretty much every category and if the mvp was based soley on stats and not wins and losses i would give it to him... but to be honest i think braun and fielder end up canceling each other out and Upton or Kemp take it down

Re: Your NL MVP

Justin Upton
Ryan Braun
Prince Fielder

Upton is my first pick because he's the only reason why the Dbacks are in the playoffs this year. They really don't have any other true allstar on the team other than a borderline allstar in Ian Kennedy. For the Dbacks to be 13 games over .500 it's nothing short of incredible.

Fielder and Braun are both having great years and the Brewers have been awesome but the fact that they are on the same team kind of hurt both of their bids for the MVP. If I were to choose one out of the two my pick would be Braun since his offensive numbers are slightly better than Fielder and he gives you more on the defensive end as well.

Re: Your NL MVP

Justin Upton, leading the Dbacks without much true help and plays very solid defense

WHich team has hit more home runs this year the Brewers or the D-Backs? This Upton has no help theory is a myth.. yeah he doesnt have a guy like braun or prince in his lineup but thats a very good baseball team in Arizona with a very solid top of the rotation

edit: d-backs have 143 dingers to the brewers 141.. but the brewers team batting average in .14 higher.. so if thats enough to vault upton in some people's eyes so be it... he is having a damn good season and is the mvp of that team.. i wouldnt be overly upset if he won it but he isnt the best player in the league right now, thats prince braun and kemp

HRs don't really tell the whole story though. Dbacks hit more HRs but they also strike out a lot more than the Brewers. It has more to do with their team philosophy at the plate rather than actual hitting talent. If you look at their lineup they have a bunch of guys that can hit 15-20 HRs year but hit around .250 batting average or lower. Upton for most of the year had guys like Stephen Drew and Chris Young hitting behind him. I mean, you're talking about a team that "improved" themselves at 1B by acquiring Lyle Overbay. It's a horrendous lineup no matter how you look at it.

I get that but despite all of that the brewers have only scored 7 more runs on the season and in the end all that matters is runs no matter how ugly you get en... if anything should work against the brewers mvp candidates is the fact that their pitching has really been their leader this season

Re: Your NL MVP

It will be Braun or Fielder. IMO, I think Braun wins it with better batting average, (likely) getting 100 runs and RBIs, and could very well be a 30/30 player this season.

Because apparently the diamondbacks are completely devoid of talent and Upton single handedly led them to the division lead

Re: Your NL MVP

Nevermind Ian Kennedy or their solid bullpen. Even Miguel Montero who is having a solid season for a catcher.

Re: Your NL MVP

Interesting how neither the first or second best team in the NL have an MVP candidate, unless you want to throw in Halladay.

Why wouldnt he be? Everyone knew the Brewers would be in the playoffs and Braun and Fielder will split the vote...No one expect the Dbacks to be doing this good this far into the season and Upton and Kennedy are that reason

Upton at this moment is the no doubt MVP of the NL and there is no reason he shouldnt be even with Fielder and Braun in the running
