Marlins unveil new name,uniforms, etc.

Thoughts?

Looks alright I guess. The only question I have is this: Will fans show up?

And their owner is one of the worst in baseball, which is saying a lot.

Everyone hates the unis here but I don't think they're too bad. People just loved the black & teal.

As for people showing up, it's pretty simple. Put a winning team on the field and people show up. That's how it works in Miami.

Or people show up and the team will spend more money.

I don't mind the logo. It looks very Miami. Even if it does look like a minor league teams.

The thing in the OF is pretty terrible though. Saw a render a few months ago, don't know if they went through with it.

I like them. They're pretty neat and logo is awesome. Very Miami like.

They needed something different.

I dont even think Albert Pujols could look good in these jerseys.

Re: Marlins unveil new name, uniforms, etc.

They're ok, I don't really care to be honest. Looks like Jose Reyes will be playing in those uniforms, possibly Mark Buehrle as well. Pujols isn't going to happen. We'll see how Hanley does at third base (which is the assumption right now rather than trying to move him to CF). There will definitely be a lot of excitement to open up the new stadium with uniforms, prized free agent and superstar manager.

These are seriously the jokiest pieces of shit I've ever seen. I thought they were a joke when I first saw them.

I actually like these a lot. I'm not even a Marlins fan but I'll probably grab one of those hats.

The Uni's are pretty ugly, i dont even see a charm to em like the old astro jerseys.. as for the marlins its been about 8 years since they won it so its time to load up for a two year run before dumping everyone again...i honestly cant stand the way they manage their organization

I don't mind them, I could do without the orange one however.

Call me a naive fan, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that having a stadium now will allow them to go out and sign Reyes and maybe a couple other guys and keep them long term. Not only that, but locking up Mike Stanton to a long term deal. I don't think I'm giving them blind support, once the new stadium was secured and management knew they were going to get it they signed Hanley Ramirez and Josh Johnson to long term deals. The Marlins were a lot more talented than a 72 win team this year. You put a healthy lineup out there with Reyes, Ramirez, Stanton and Morrison and a pitching rotation with Johnson, Buehrle, Sanchez, Nolasco you're going to have a chance to win a lot of games. Good chance that when (if) they sign Reyes, they're not done too.

we'll see, they have definitely shelled out money before for some big time names and then absolutely sold everything off a year later.. maybe having the new stadium will help, i know it did wonders for us here in milwaukee. The marlins just need to keep their fams interested, it will be sad if that beautiful new stadium starts getting 10,000 fans a night like they have been doing

Re: Marlins unveil new name, uniforms, etc.

I really think it will help. The location is more accessible for fans, unlike Sun Life Stadium which is in the middle of nowhere. The fact that the stadium has a retractable roof and air conditioning in South Florida can't be overstated. Throw in an offseason where people in the national media are actually talking about the Marlins, the excitement of potentially adding a big star like Jose Reyes -- the Marlins will have a huge spike in attendance early in the season. Sustaining it is the key obviously, but the stadium is beautiful and if you put a winning product on the field and show a commitment to keeping your stars it'll go a long way.
