Big toe got blue, and hurts a lot.

My big toe on my left foot got blue after playing basketball one day about a month ago, and that day it hurt a lot. One month ago I started feeling pain in my toe when I pivoted a lot, and I figured it couldn't be due to pivoting only. Someone had stepped on my foot but I didn't think that was hard enough to cause the blood clot, but apparantly it was, in addition with the pivoting that made it like this.

Now the problem is that was a month ago, and now each time I play basketball once a week, it hurts again due to all the pivoting. It hurts a lot right now as I'm typing. So if it's still hurting because of playing basketball, do I need to have it checked out by a doctor? Or do I really2 need to stop playing? Because I really don't wanna stop playing cuz it's so damn fun, but I also want my toe to heal. And it doesn't seem to have gotten that much better since one month ago...

Thanks.
