2012 D League Draft (NBA Developmental League - November 2, 2012)

Chris Johnson Drafted in D League (Doug Harris, DDN - November 2, 2012)

Former University of Dayton basketball standout Chris Johnson was the seventh overall pick in the NBA Developmental League draft tonight. He was chosen by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, who are affiliated with the Houston Rockets and play in Hidalgo, Texas.

Johnson had a tryout with the Los Angeles Clippers this fall. After being waived, he was picked up by the Orlando Magic but was part of the team’s final cuts last Saturday.

The 6-foot-5 wing is the only college player in last 20 seasons to record at least 1,400 points, 800 rebounds, 200 3-pointers and shoot at least 80 percent from the free throw line.

JaJuan Johnson of Purdue was the No. 1 pick, Charleston’s Andrew Goudelock was second, Justin Harper of Richmond third and Shelvin Mack of Butler fourth.

Best of luck to Justin, Shelvin, and Chris in making an NBA Roster during the 2012-13 season !
