Was a high school teammate of rising Freshman Tyler Brelsford and AAU teammate of rising Sophomore Chase Paar. Sit One Play Three unless the transfer rules are changed later this summer.
Who’s on the way out of Foggy Bottom? By my count, that’s 14 scholarship players—not including Ace Stallings.

Young Liam is a little late with the corona/close to family excuse - it's already been used. Besides, wasn't he already playing 2 hours from home at Drake? That would be like a Buffalo kid leaving Bonaventure to play with an uncle on staff at West Virginia and saying it's because he gets to be "close to family". It's his uncle, OK, we get it, but just be honest about it. It's a chance to play for a big program and you took it. Move along, nothing to see here, just the business of college athletics.

Jacob Toppin leaving URI. This transfer culture is whirling totally out of control.

In these departing “Thank You Rhody Nation” type messages, the overall tone is really, “Hey, thanks for the opportunity, the faith in me, the coaching, support, teaching, and training... now fuck off. Something fleeting and shiny just passed by.”

Bill, this makes you wonder if there aren’t underlying issues at URI

Agreed. Anybody have any insights?
It could be something amiss at URI but we all better be ready to buckle up because transfer season is about to go from Chess to Checkers.

I really can't make heads or tails of it. At the same time as these transfers are happening, we scored the Mitchell twins and Malik Martin in the transfer portal, as well as one of our top targets Norance Tres Berry for the incoming freshman class. So it's not like we're bringing in losers to replace the outgoing transfers.

Just speculating out of thin air here, but could the outgoing players thinking Cox is not a strong enough personality and see things going south for their opportunities with the Mitchell twins arriving? With the thought that they'll be playing 30 minutes per game regardless of performance because the coach won't take a stand with their inner circle. Spitballing here...

The Mitchell twins may not be the best additions to a program. Especially one where there is a mass exodus of players that Cox recruited or at least had a major role in the recruitment. It’s not like Cox is firing the previous coach’s recruits in order to rebuild.

URI really needs Fatts to return or its a complete overhaul job top to bottom. I always felt Dowtin was the best player on the floor for URI anyway and he's gone too. Doubt Jacob goes to Dayton. Way too much pressure and shadow there given Obi. He will find his own landing spot. I actually think a year off transferring would help JT a lot too. Needs to put on 25lb of muscle. Would come back bigger and better if he used the transfer year wisely.
