I'd love to see some sort of statistical analysis that shows how many players that do not play much/play poorly at teams ranked 150 or worse in the kenpom (or whatever metric) end up as good players anywhere at any time.

It seems like a lot of the transfer portal are guys who play 10 minutes and score 4 points per game at bad programs just circling around to other bad programs where they don't perform.

Not pointing fingers at any recent transfers in or out of the conference, but this seems like deck-chair shuffling a lot of the time.

Guys like Szymon Wojcik seem the exception to the rule and to be fair to Szymon it took two years and two coaches at UMBC to get the chance to blossom. But it's not like he went from 2ppg to 20ppg.

Lowell gets a William & Mary transfer who initially was going to spend the year at Chipola JC. Career averages of 7.9 ppg on not great shooting. I hope Lowell cleared it with the juco...because if they didn't that's a great way to ensure you're going to have a really hard time getting players from those ranks again, since jucos consider that poaching too.

Not to say McMillian is bad or anything, but looks like those power offers maybe faded?

"McMillan's final eight schools were: Cal State Northridge, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Cleveland State, Penn, Loyola Marymount, Kansas State, Ball State and Northeastern."

Kansas State (which lost its whole team almost to transfer and needs bodies) being the only exception, most are mid-majors. Solid ones, so I think that's a testament to his ability, but all those offers listed on places like Verbal Commits probably weren't on the table in the end.

Also that article says NJIT plays in the ASun. Booo this reporter!

Would not be surprised one bit if he plays one year and then transfers to a power 5 school.

Matt Veretto, 6-7 Forward originally from CT. Left Delaware after 2018-19. No idea what he did in the meantime.

Looks like he hasn’t played since his one year at Delaware. Will be interesting to see how many years he has left to play. Nice to get another player that can join the forward rotation.

He had a really decent freshman year at Delaware. Hopefully the time off hasn’t been detrimental to his development.

Drew some high-major interest as an underclassman that cooled as time went on. Not sure specifically why, other than maybe just the size/skillset combo didn't quite develop into what it needed to in order to be a 6-9 high-major player. We seemed to get in pretty late in the game. But either way, he's on board! Welcome Perry!

EDIT: Then the tweet was deleted. Premature rollout? It was definitely a produced edit.

Binghamton adds guard Matt Solomon. Started at Cal State Northridge before transferring to a junior college. He played well there last year (15.7 ppg) though who knows what type of competition he saw at that level. Shot almost 45% from 3, so maybe he’ll be a replacement for Bertram?
