I did this last year...maybe it was helpful, maybe it wasn't. But I wanted to break this out of the Coaching Carousel thread so we can track assistant coach movement in the conference.

First up: Sounds like Louis Hinnant is leaving Lowell to join Tony Skinn's staff at Mason...

Bryson Johnson at UVM will be something to monitor. Firmly in the rumor category, but Paulsen at Holy Cross was his college coach and he worked under him at Mason too.

Boyle's dad is a famed NJ prep coach who coached Kyrie and has coached a bunch of other NBA guys like Embiid down in Florida...some people early on thought he'd actually try for the NJIT job himself, but instead, sets the son up...don't think that NJIT is going to be pulling from such an elite academy, but cool. Boyle Jr doesn't have any college coaching experience.

Sounds like Ryan Herrion could be headed to fill Hinnant's spot at Lowell which would allow him to avenge his father and smite UNH on multiple occasions...

Very interesting from HoopDirt, re: UNH...

"Multiple people have told me that Nathan Davis is close to adding former Army head coach Jimmy Allen to his new staff at UNH. Allen had spent the past seven seasons at Army, and was dismissed after winning 17 games this past season. Like Davis, Allen has also been a D3 head coach, spending six seasons as the head coach at Averett."

Two fired Patriot League coaches for the price of one. I would have personally swapped the job title order, but that's some good 3D chess, Alison Rich.

That'd be an excellent hire. Allen was solid at a tough job. He'd be more experienced than any assistant coach Herrion ever had.

We're a Mike Brennan and Brett Nelson away from the New Hampshire Ex-Patriots, and I'm all in on it.
Thats a smart move if Stores can bring in some of his guys that hit the portal after Gallagher was hired.

Important to note that in addition to the "National Team" with Cooper Flagg and a bunch of other 4 and 5 stars, Montverde also has a post-grad team and three Center for Basketball Development varsity rosters. I'm not saying NJIT will be getting a bunch of Montverde guys every year, but just making sure that the quantity of talent is different than most national powers.

This is not true at all. Bill had Ken Dempsey on his staff that has more experience then Coach Allen.

Hi Ken!

Kidding. I was referring to Allen being a D1 head coach. If he’s hired, I’d consider that a higher profile assistant than anyone Herrion had.

After seeing NJIT’s staff, I hope Nathan Davis brings together a great group. Allen would be a fantastic start.

Messinger is the head coach of the post-grad program at Hargrave Military Academy.

If folks remember, Albany got Cam Healy from Montverde....and that team he played on was well "stocked".
Been talked about here, but it does look like Stores is joining the NJIT staff. His name was floated this morning in conjunction with Coppin State in the annual "HBCU Coaching Search That Will Never End." But looks like he's Newark bound after all. Great get.

Smart move. Coppin St. is one of those schools who could drop to D2.

Looks like Bryson Johnson may in fact be on the move to Holy Cross to reunite with Dave Paulsen. Bummer for the Cats, but I remember seeing this possibility on the HC board even before Paulsen was officially hired so it's not the biggest surprise. Best of luck to Bryson, and maybe we'll see you down the road someday!

It seemed to me that catpower was alluding to this liklihood in the previous post.

Is it too soon to discuss possible candidates?

Would one of the players from recent teams that are still in the area, be a candidate? It seems like Ernie Duncan has been pretty busy with his basketball clinics but...maybe? I have no idea how much of the job is teaching skills vs recruiting vs scouting, but ED could definitely coach up shooting and probably be pretty good at scouting. He also knows Becker's systems, and what he expects.
