A-10 preseason poll and preseason teams will be announced at 9:30 this morning.

Through twitter, both Jon Rothstein and Jeff Goodman are in attendance as I'm sure several dozen other media types are.

St. Joe's got 11 first place votes, Saint Louis got 10, VCU got 3, Temple, UMass, and Butler got 2 each. That's 6 different teams getting first-place votes. That says a lot!

Interesting comments from some national media types:

Andy Katz:
A bit surprised by A10 predicted order of finish: STJoe; SLU; VCU; Temple; UMass; Butler; LAS; Day; XU; Rich; SBU; CHA; GW; Ford; RI; Duq

Dana O'Neil:
A little surprised at the A10 picks. St. Joe's to win it. Hmm. Have VCU in my top 25.

I like St. Joe's. Think definitely could be a tourney team. Just not sure Hawks are best in A10. Good to debate.

Jeff Borzello:
Interesting predicted order of finish in the A10. Think Butler is a little low, think VCU will win it, think it's going to be a helluva race

Rob Dauster:
Gotta say, I think despite the lofty expectations (and where I ranked them) that VCU is still being underrated.

Nobody wins anything on paper and in October. You have to earn it.

No doubt about that. In my opinion I thought Saint Louis was a shoo-in for #1 and that we could be anywhere from 2-4. 3 is just fine by me.

I guess this schedule is as good as possible for Xavier. Tough games at home and some winnable road games.

Home: 2.3.4.5.7.8.13.14
Road 1.6.8.10.11.12.15.16

I'll take that.

As opposed to Richmond:

Road games at 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,14

Home games at 2,3,9,11,12,13,15,16

Why don't we just switch SLU with FU and be done with it?
We could be a hell of a team and it might not make any difference.:eek:mg:

I think the prediction for Xavier might be a little high. The scary part for the A-10 is that Xavier can pull a Temple this year and lose most to all of their OOC games and then win a lot of games in conference. I firmly believe, while not up to Xavier standards, the Xavier team you see in February will not be the Xavier team you see in November.

ANO made preseason All-Rookie team last year. So did the competition increase that much this year?
