I hope UNC Asheville upsets UCLA. Pember for UNC-A is really good. He might end up hitting the transfer portal. I want Coach Morell to win a game.
I guess this where we depart in terms of my giving a shit- I feel NOTHING for the AAC. I view the AAC as an empty, hollow, football glory chasing shitheap who tried desperately to get in with the P5, and failed. P5 or not, the top half of that league is cut from the same money grubbing cloth and are every bit as bad.

ETA: I just recalled this is the same conference who operated under the slogan of 'the other power conference'. Yeah, sorry. Agree to disagree on this one, BR. I would be thrilled to see the AAC lose money through a loss to FAU.
Wow. You’re charged up this morning. Does this have anything to do with what the market is doing to community banks and banks in general?

The seeding is bad for sure. But, one thing I like is that 3 of the 4 8/9 matchups are middling P5 teams. That's almost a guarantee that none will make out of the first weekend. The thing I'm most disappointed in is the seeding of the 11s and 12s. If VCU lost yesterday, I thought they still had a legitimate shot at making it in. But after winning and still getting a 12 seed, as the 50th overall seed, is just ridiculous. Meanwhile, NC St., Pitt, and Arizona St. both get 11s. If you swap out those seeds in each region, they make much more compelling matchups.
I think there is a real flaw in the NCAA bracket setup right now that got exposed in this tournament, but isn't being talked about. If you look at the four 12 seeds, including VCU, all of them deserved to be an 11 or 10 seed. However, since the play-in game is fixed at the 11 seed, the lowest seed an at-large can be is an 11. This means that 22 out of the 32 automatic qualifiers need to be seeded 12-16, and only 10 automatic qualifiers can be seed 1-11. If you look at the top ten seeded automatic qualifiers, the lowest two are Memphis (8) and FAU (9) which they deserve. This means the best VCU, Charleston, Drake, and Oral Roberts could be seeded is 12. The play-in game seeding should be fluid and be a 12 or 13 seed if needed. There is a lot more parity in college basketball now then 5-10 years ago. Just another way the BIG5 always benefit.

The play-in games should be played between all 15s and 16s, with the field being expanded to 72. Regardless of conference affiliation, the lowest 16 ranked teams (based off PUBLICLY ESTABLISHED criteria) would play in those play-ins in the same arenas as their regionals (so as to limit travel). Make teams with losing conference records ineligible for at-large bids. Do those things, and you’d have a much, much more fair field (which is why it won’t happen).

This is a great point. I was trying to remember if they ever had the last four in play-in games as 12 seeds. I thought it had been both 11 and 12 in previous years. But, regardless, it should be a fluid situation because there's no way those 11 seeds were that high up the list.

The First Four at-larges AREN'T "fixed at an 11" by any policy or procedure. It's just the P5 perception that they're automatically better than everyone else rearing it's ugly head.

Five times one of the First Four games were 12, 13 or 14 seeds (14 because BYU was in it and they had to feed them into a site not playing on Sundays). Indiana/Wyoming were a 12 last year.

Good showing for the TV viewership. Maybe no competition on Sunday time slot?
Another metric;
Barclays Center attendance for final 8,162 (46%)
MSG attendance for final 19,812 (100%)

Went up against the SEC championship game.

Big East was in direct competition with more than we were, but they also lost pretty badly to the MWC. Their issue is they're the only one on FOX, whereas the MWC had the B1G semi-final game lead into it and likely had a bunch of holdovers on CBS.
Some people speculate that the Big East numbers were depressed due to the final being between two small market teams. The A-10 final, of course, was also between two small market teams. Let’s not forget though that the A-10 final was on network TV. When doesn’t CBS outpoll FOX Sports?

The Big East Final was on FOX, not FOX Sports.

Thanks for correcting that. I didn’t watch the Big East final, so wasn’t aware. Their rating may also have something to do with the idea that most Big East fans don’t get excited by a final with two midwestern teams. I wonder how our ratings would have been on CBS if the final was the Billikens and Ramblers?

You gotta get there to find out. Guess we will never know.

Yup - a 1 bid A10 with no ranked teams got a hell of a lot of eyeballs still. Even in years when we're down, can still pull those views.

How much is the Big East contract for? Don't they make similar money to the full MWC contract? And their championship game between two top 15 ranked teams in their most popular sport pulled fewer views than the MWC's second most popular sport with #20 vs. an unranked?

Granted, there's more than just the championship game to care about here...but still. FOX can't be too please with the return on investment there.

OOOOOOH! You shouldn’t pick on our newest fanbase - the Ramblers like that.
Since the A10 has so many more eyeballs watching then the BE, you would think Bernie could negotiate a media deal that pays more. Would sure help all the schools put more money into basketball and facilities.
