As a fan, Brooklyn has been by far the best place to have the tournament. I went to Pittsburgh and DC, and they just weren’t as much fun. I get the argument of the empty venue; but, I also agree that it doesn’t show up in tv as much as you’d assume. Playing in home gyms or smaller arenas also has a lower-level connotation to it, too.

Securing the Barclays in 2013, along with the new members definitely put a lot of positive attention on the league. It hasn’t been maintained, but, if don’t think sizing down in venues is a good optic, either.

Also, say no the Green City arena outside of Richmond. It will be in a suburb about 20 minutes away from downtown. It will be great distance for 5 or so teams, but it will be a place you’re spending an extra $50 a day and 45-60 minutes on travel.

Green City will host one day. Watch. I know the guy in charge of Henrico's Sports and Entertainment Economic Development. He is gonna get the A10.

Oh I don’t doubt that it will happen. I just don’t think it should happen.
Wait to see how it shapes up. You will be pleasantly surprised by the amenities on location and an easy trip to the city if needed. Right off the 95/295 corridor.

I agree.
At no point during the CAA games last night did I think "wow, that arena is empty". At the same time, at no point did I think "wow, they really filled in that place." It was good basketball and the arena looked fine.

CoC is now at 30 wins and if they do not win tonight most think they won't get an at-large. They tried to schedule well, but it did not work out for them. They mentioned it last night, several teams, including two from our conference, were on their schedule, but those teams underperformed this season. Would be interesting to see what a projected SOS at the start of the season looks like vs. where it falls at the end of the season.
Sure, go ahead and blame us...

And holy shit, Richmond holds UMass to under 40! 71-38 final. Buckle up, Paul.
One has to wonder if Frank Martin and his demeanor has worn thin with his players. They seemed like they wanted to be done.

Let's be honest here. You said if the league gets stronger....well, when the A10 had a 5 bid league I went to Brooklyn. It was a big crowd but not packed. Throughout that tournament there were lots of empty seats.

Oh and we have totally bought in to the narrative of a BAD A10 this year. It is not good when you compare to past years but we need better PR. I watched the CAA games last night and they were fun games between four 20 win teams. Charleston has 30 wins I believe. Charleston also plays in the #21 strongest conference (CAA) by RPI to VCU's #11 conference that they won by 3 games (to CoC's sharing the title w Hofstra). BTW, as much as the rest of the conference likes self loathing the A10 was just a tick below the American in RPI.
Did you go to the CAA games at the Coliseum before you joined the conference?
1990 & 1991 it seemed all 8 teams had a crowd and the lower bowl stayed reasonable full all 3 days.

Yes. I was working for channel 12 covering sports at the time so I was shooting the games. I can remember Kent Culuko hitting a last second shot for JMU and fans jumping over me to run out on the court.

Take Davidson -4 all day. The Bona faithful will be given the needle of mercy today on this season.
A game plan that involves Venning first to get the offense going. Play inside/out. He can go to the glass or kick it to cutters or open teammates for jumpers. Getting Farell early touches would also be helpful.

All true AA except one key point, there needs to be cutters in order to hit cutters. Usually they stand around and watch.

I will be watching. In the 2nd half of the VCU game they did well off the ball. I will pay particular attention to movement off the ball early today.
