Your biggest problem now is that the further you go in the tournament, the more likely you will need to look for a new coach next year. First things first though.
Crazy that two former VCU coaches were their conference's COY. Smart and Capel. Actually, four if you count assistants. Mike Jones and Mike Morell were also named COY.
If it does happen you gotta make a good hire and keep on keeping on.

You guys seem pretty good at doing that without skipping a beat. The Billikens? Not so much. VCU to Albany. Interesting.

I hate how the NCAA mugwumps like to match up VCU against St Mary's. I was hoping to get a 5th seeded P5 team. Oh well.
It is very intentional, as such a game guarantees a non-P5 capable of a deep run will be eliminated out of the gate. San Diego State vs. Charleston is another.

I agree BI. It can be looked at both ways. 2 shitty P5s facing off also guarantees one of them loses, too. But at the end of the day I want non powers to play powers even at the risk of all of them losing.

On Memphis, I’m not bothered. I put them (and Houston, and when they were still good, Cinci) in the same vein as the Big East. They’re not P5, and maybe have SLIGHT disadvantages as compared to P5. But they still have advantages and opportunities we don’t, and sympathy for them is something I definitely don’t have.

Naturally, the committee pits non-P5s against each other again. This is all fucked.
Ironic that those same committee members penalize teams if they don't schedule P5 opponents. Seems like the P5s and the committee don't want those games to happen.

So FAU vs Memphis means only one of them can get an extra share of revenue for their conference.
I guess this where we depart in terms of my giving a shit- I feel NOTHING for the AAC. I view the AAC as an empty, hollow, football glory chasing shitheap who tried desperately to get in with the P5, and failed. P5 or not, the top half of that league is cut from the same money grubbing cloth and are every bit as bad.

ETA: I just recalled this is the same conference who operated under the slogan of 'the other power conference'. Yeah, sorry. Agree to disagree on this one, BR. I would be thrilled to see the AAC lose money through a loss to FAU.

The seeding is bad for sure. But, one thing I like is that 3 of the 4 8/9 matchups are middling P5 teams. That's almost a guarantee that none will make out of the first weekend. The thing I'm most disappointed in is the seeding of the 11s and 12s. If VCU lost yesterday, I thought they still had a legitimate shot at making it in. But after winning and still getting a 12 seed, as the 50th overall seed, is just ridiculous. Meanwhile, NC St., Pitt, and Arizona St. both get 11s. If you swap out those seeds in each region, they make much more compelling matchups.

Also, NC State and Pitt getting in while UNC is a first four out? Unbelievable. The ACC was a 3 bid league this year, but they just can't let that happen.
UNC did not challenge themselves. Heck, did they even have one Q1 win? Ha! I have seen a bunch of mad Clemson fans. Well, they scheduled a weak OOC and they lost to Loyola. Oh well.

The egregious part about Pitt is the disparity of some of their losses. They got smacked around by WVU and Michigan. Let's be honest with ourselves though. The ACC this year was about the level of the A10 ~10 years ago. A few top 25 teams mixed with some real bottom feeders. Pitt notched an OOC win against NW and in conference wins against Miami and UVA, while only racking up one truly bad loss to ND. A resume like that if an A10 team, we'd be screaming our heads off as to why they weren't a lock.
