Acie Law IV - PG - Texas A&M

After watching this kid play, I am wondering why he isn't being discussed as a possible 1st round choice(whether in this years draft or next years as he is a JR). He is probably the fastest PG in the nation with the ball in his hands, he has great size at 6'3, a long wingspan which helps him play the passing lanes better on defense, has a solid looking jump shot, and decision making and passing right on the level with other touted PG prospects like Ronald Steele, Darius Washington Jr, Dee Brown etc... NBAdraft.net has him a mid 2nd rounder in next years draft! What major flaws in his game am a failing to see that would put him in the 2nd round while guys mentioned above(along with others) are projected to go in the 1st round?

I like him. He is projected to go 30th (1st round) in 2007 by DX

He's a good player I think his stock will rise significantly next season.

I think he needs to improve his outside shot and his passing ability in order for him to do that. Defensively he is a dream though.

I like Acie Law and he kind of reminds me of Cuttino Mobley. He seems to have the ability score on and off the ball and knows how and when to pass the ball to his teammates.

Except Mobley is an undersized, pure scoring 2-guard while Law is a pure PG with excellent size. Mobley has an excellent outside shot while Law's needs improvement and consistency. Mobley is a bit of a defensive liability on a most nights with most 2-guards in the league having a serious size advantage over him while Law is an excellent defender. I think the only similarities they have is the fact that they are lefty's.

Maybe I should watch more of Law, but to me he doesn't seem like a pure pg...more of a tweener type in the mold of a Salim Stoudamire?

Oh wow no way....Salim was the greatest shooter in the nation when he was in college. Law shoots in t he low 30% from three. Law isnt half the shooter Soutdamire is...

Law is a PG, only taller, his height has no bearing on his position other than it helps him be a better defender at the PG spot. It doesnt make him a SG...

I wasn't talking about his shooting, just the tweener part. Also, my opinion didn't come from the fact he was left handed or is 6'3. To me his ballhandling and playmaking ability for his teammates aren't his greatest skill; however he seems to have a knack for scoring , therefore him playing the 2 is a possibility in the NBA. In saying this I do believe he is a great prospect at pg or sg.

Again, maybe I should watch more of him, but this was my initial impression of his game.

I would agree if he ever does bring that shooting percentage up that he could be a 2. Sorta Jason Terry like...
