I asked Mike Barret if I could "interview him" via email and he agree'd. here it is.

Entertaining. A fun read.


I actually have something going to "print' in the next couple of days. I interviewed someone from the area here regarding all things NBA, but mostly Blazers. I'll try and do you proud

Great stuff, you asked a lot of questions I would have asked.

No one, and I mean no one, prepares for a game like Rice. People laugh at how sometimes he gets names wrong, but it's not because he's not ready...

It was really good. Fun to see a knowledgable fan ask questions that actually have some meat to them as opposed to Quick's softballs

It makes me laugh how much certain fans think that Jason Quick and John Canzano have it in for the Blazers. Yeah - their sole purpose in life is to write negative things about the Blazers (mostly made up) just because they think it's funny.:rolleyes: Grow up.

Thankfully, a classy Mike Barrett took the high road on that one and complimented JQ.

Other than that, and a couple woefully self-indulgent questions (Duck-bashing, wrestling, etc.), fairly well-done interview. Thanks for sharing it.

Thought this was interesting...

ME: --Jason and I went to Oregon State together, and in fact, worked together for a short time at the Sports Information office at OSU. I've known him for a long time. I know some fans feel they are always way to negative, but I wouldn't always blame the writers for that. They're just doing what they're told to do. I've gotten to know Canzano pretty well, and I think he's an entertaining writer. Not always fair, but we've given them a lot of material in the recent past. They're both good guys, despite what you might think.

You do realize that there was a reason behind why I asked that question (about quick and canzano) right?

did you honestly, (HONESTLY) think I asked it because I expected MB to say "you fans are 100% right! He's a jerk!"?

to show that there's a lot we fans dislike about him (the two of them) that is childish and petty. Hell, I know thats a lot of why I don't like him, but also to get the opinion of someone who deals with him on a daily basis and knows the ins and outs of why he does what he does.

I was pitched a softball, that MB hit exactly where I wanted him to hit it.

Great read...made me chuckle more then once. Anyone who remembers my avatar before GW Monkey would know my favorite part was....

ME: It's Halloween and Brian Wheelers crib. The theme is "cheesy 80's " Do you go as "B.A." Baracus, Murdock, Face or Hannibal and why?

MB:--Rice is defintely Face. I would probably go as Murdock. I don't have a good reason why.

That part about Albany Oregon was a low cheap dispicable thing! :curse: :biggrin: :cry:

I was born and rasied here and find it to be the best place to live and return to of all my travels.

Some sucessfull people have been rasied here. Mike Donahue of Channel 6 and Mike Barrettjust to name two.

I would be greatly insulted if Hap er SMiLE were not a Blazer fan but because he is, all is forgiven. Interesting interview, though. thanks Hap.
