Interesting read. Dambrot has no problem turning over his roster. He throws some players under the bus that left and brushes off sending players packing. Year in a year out he has improved a program that had been putrid but his recruiting has become an annual revolving door.
Guys like that are why the current landscape exists as it does. It’s hard to criticize players’ seemingly whimsical movement when coaches openly talk and behave like that.

Guarantee scholarships for four years under an LOI; give options for year-to-year, but be up front about it. Then we could reestablish the year-in-residence and get back to prioritizing graduation across major college athletics.

I am just not sure that his endgame will be successful. Good teams have chemistry and unless he can stick with players he recruits his issues will continue. He did take some blame in the article but after reading it I felt like all the blame lays at his feet.

He basically says, "It's on me that the players I picked ended up being horrible on the court and off". Yikes! Is that him taking the blame? Ha!

Yeah… despite what the Dukes fans here may think, I don’t have any problem with their school or athletics. It’s Dambrot. The guy is a skeevy, glorified AAU coach.

Posted this on UMass Hoops as well, but he goofed up on the Massachusetts schedule. Listed Duquesne on both our home and away schedules when we only will play them once. Looks to be that we're playing them at home and Dayton away (appear on both of their schedules, and Dayton doesn't appear on ours).

So a transposition error? The away game should be UD not DU...

Quite probably - also explains why Davidson gets to play the illustrious UMass, whereas the rest of the league needs to face-off against Massachusetts.

Fun fact about DU vs. UD: the University of Denver, despite logically going by UD thanks to word order, instead goes by DU.

First time VCU gets to square off with Bona twice other than last season which was due to COVID cancellations. The second game helped VCU so we see how having a tough schedule is beneficial.
