Chris Rodgers, a top 25 combo guard, didn't qualify academically for the University of Arizona. That could be a good thing for Lute Olsen and staff but a bad thing for Rodgers.

According to Rob Harrington of Prep Stars, who broke the story, Rodgers could sit out as a partial qualifier and still attend Zona or go to a prep school and improve his grades. The one catch with that though is he becomes a new recruit for the class of 2003.

When I spoke to Rob yesterday, he seemed convinced that Rodgers would go to a prep school and leave Arizona all toghther.

Why? The main reason is super high school senior and perhaps the best point guard prospect in the land Mustafa Shakur.

Shakur, who lists NC State and Arizona as his top 2 schools, will be visiting Tucson in the next couple of weeks.

One more thing to keep in mind. There were rumors circling the PAC-10 that Will Bynum was looking to transfer because of all of the incoming guards. He recently announced that he was indeed staying with the Cats.

Maybe that is a sign that Rodgers is going to a prep school after all.

According to Rivals.com, Rodgers will likely end up at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia or Maine Central Institute.
