Supporting Membership

Basketballboards.net is a lot of things to a lot of people. It is computers and software connected to the Internet. But it is far more than that. It is a community, and a well organized one at that. Beyond the community, Basketballboards.net is a place where fans come to write and have their writing seen by thousands of other people. It has become a place where hundreds of people at once spend time during ballgames sharing their observations about what's happening. It is rapidly becoming the internet site where sports fans gather to share their experience and have a lot of fun doing it.

The concept of Supporting Membership is one that allows members of the community to contribute to the growth and features of the site with a modest cash donation. The revenues generated by supporting membership fees have not come close to paying for the operation of the site, and perhaps never will. But the money has been put to good use, paying for software, software upgrades, graphics, and more.

In exchange for a Supporting Membership contribution, Basketballboards.net offers a few benefits to those members:

First and foremost is the recognition as Supporting Member, with usernames that are bold and stand out from the rest. Every time a person reads posts or is even browsing the board, they know who's a Supporting Member.

Second, we've enabled numerous features in the software for Supporting Members. These features change from time to time, and more are added all the time. Perhaps the most significant of these features is the ability to customize their "identies" on the site; custom avatars, ability to change their titles, and so on.

Third, Supporting Members are allowed to have a forum of their very own, dedicated to the topic (within site rules) of their choice. These forums are highly popular, and for good reason. You can find reviews of Jazz albums, Hip Hop, blogs, and all kinds of things of interest that our Supporting Members have contributed through their forums.

Fourth, we provide a lot of "customer" support. Supporting Members' suggestions, criticisms, requests, etc., are of the highest priority.

Fifth, Basketballboards.net recruits its moderators and community moderators from the Supporting Member base. As the site grows, more moderators and community moderators are needed.

There are certainly other reasons that people decide to become Supporting Members; the reason and decision are yours alone.

With the new additions on the site, you get to negatively rep posts that you disagree with. You also get 10,000 PM slots, compared to the measley amount you get now

All this for a laughable amount of $10 (American) per year, it's well worth it. The main thing is your all regulars here, why not help the site out greatly. You can do it via PayPal or send the cash. PM Gym Rat if you do decide to graciously help the site out ... donate today :)

EDIT: That's $16 for us Aussies (myself, soulhunter, markayne, aussiewill)
