Blazers hit bump on road by Jason Quick, Oregonian 01/30/03

The Blazers led 47-37 at halftime, but that was followed by one of the worst halves in franchise history. They made five baskets in the second half and tied two franchise records for futility, scoring 24 points in the second half, which included nine points in the fourth quarter.

"We couldn't score," coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We died in the second half."

Bonzi Wells, who had six points, sat with his head in his hands and said he wished only for sleep. Derek Anderson, who made 3 of 12 shots, said he was so tired that he pulled a rare move -- asking out of the game. And Scottie Pippen grumbled about the Blazers' travel itinerary -- which had them leaving the Rose Garden at midnight after Tuesday's home game and arriving in Salt Lake City around 3:30 a.m.
Not trying to sugar coat anything, but it really sounds like this team was tired. Looks like the stage is set for Rasheed Wallace to make his return and save the day!

5 and 2 with Portlands best player out! Not to shabby. :D

Well,

At least Phil Johnson did say this................

"Give our team credit. But they've been on the road . . . and fatigue was a factor with their team tonight. I'm sure of that."

:upset:
that explains the running out of gas..
because they started out great..

I don't think for a minute Jazz would have beaten Portland..

Wells is the man in Sheed's absense...He has to bring it every night. The guy has the ability to be considered and all-star.

Is Q-Woods in the doghouse?

Did you notice the playing time for Q-Woods?
5 minutes! 5 minutes ???

If every Blazer wa sso tired... Q-Woods should have been given the opportunity. There were times McInnis, Damon, and Pip were on the floor together? Mike Rice kept saying... Bonzi doesn't have it.

Is Q-Woods in the doghouse?
