Good thing I didn't bet the under for BU transfers. Looks like Coach Jones has a lot of work to fill out next year's roster. I count four open scholarships.

Transfers Out:
  • Morales
  • EBW
  • Tate

Hope Coach considers a couple of grad transfers. The team really could use veteran players. Point guard would be at the top of my list and a proven scorer too. The team loses its top-seven scorers and the returning players average around 17 points per game combined.

And now a list of players BU has apparently contacted. A few familiar names.

1) Johnny O'Neil - American

2) Justin Wright - NC Central

3) Blaise Beauchamp - Evansville

4) Jaylen Fairman - Bellarmine

5) Dom Campbell - Notre Dame

6) Coleton Benson - Army

7) Amarri Tice - Wofford

Seems like most of the reported players BU has expressed interest in are on the younger side. If BU has five open spots I would want at least three to be juniors or seniors. First because they have experience and second to balance the recruiting classes. Seems like any semi-productive D1 player is getting calls from high majors. Competition looks tough. I'm open to D2 players especially if they can offer the things I think next year's Terriers probably will need (experience, leadership, scoring).

Not sure that we would take a kid for only one year. Taking kids with two years remaining would make sense as currently only Malcolm is a member of next season’s junior class .Of course, with only 5 players returning we may not be able to be very selective; we need some good players.

I would be okay with a one year player if they don't stunt the development of the younger players. Ben Roy and Miles Brewster could be the starting point guard and go-to scorer for BU--I'm not sure if that's the best role for either next year. Grad transfers at either spot probably wouldn't hurt the long term development of the rest of the team. Maybe one or two freshmen will be major contributors, I think they have the potential, but I just wouldn't rely on it.

I think balancing recruiting classes is really important, otherwise we could be going through this again in a year or two if some players are squeezed out of playing time.

I believe the Patriot League does not allow graduate transfers. We could take a kid who is entering his senior year but not a kid who has graduated.

[/There is the possibility that we hold onto some scholarships for next year. That can be dangerous as it leaves us with a short roster.
We may also need to look at junior college players.
We have not had this type of a roster problem in many years.
