Toronto Raptors star Vince Carter continued to lead the NBA in all-star balloting after third ballot returns.

Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers leads the Western Conference. Carter has been the leading vote-getter for the all-star game for three of the last four seasons. Only two other players - Michael Jordan and Julius Erving - have led the all-star ballot three or more times.

The top two vote-getters came from the Eastern Conference. As of Monday afternoon, Carter led all players with 1,629,169 votes and centre Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons was second in total votes with 1,465,308.

Bryant led all Western Conference players with 1,333,262 votes at the guard position. Steve Francis (727,103) of the Rockets was second at the guard position.

Balloting closes Jan. 18.

The all-star game will be played at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 15.
