Odom to Miami wont happen.

It's been rumored for over a year now cuz Riley absolutely loves Lamar Odom. But Miami does not have anything the Clippers need, so a deal will not happen.

If Odom is ever dealt, its for a superstar PG, and even that isn't a likely move. Miami doesn't have anything like that to offer for Odom.

And that rumor certainly is completely off base.

A. That is not NEAR enough for Odom.
B. The Clips already have 2 lotto picks, and may not have room for those. They can't add another.
C. Anthony Carter? He'd be 3rd string behind Jaric and Dooling.

If Lamar Odom is traded, which is almost guaranteed to NOT happen, it's either for Andre Miller, Baron Davis, or the rights to Jason Williams. They certainly aren't going to accept a horrible deal like 10 and Anthony Carter.

RD! Good to see ya here... even though it is a Clipper forum...

Anyway, what I've been hearing is Odom for the 10 and Zo. A sign-and-trade with Kandi is also involved, although he doesn't go to Miami, but I'm not sure where he'd go. But why would they want the 10? 8, 10, 12... Maybe they pick up somebody like Zo, for a couple years, pick up Borchardt in the draft, let him develop, let Zo go, use the money to sign Darius Miles, and max out Elton Brand. And in the draft they can use the other two picks on a backup big man and a project. I think their future will be Dooling or Jaric at the 1, Richardson at the 2, Odom or Miles at the 3, Brand at the 4, and a pick from this year at 5. They don't have the money to max out more than two guys, and their owner probably wouldn't do more than that anyway. But either Odom, Miles, or Brand has to go, and my money's on Odom, even though he has much more potential than Miles. Dooling's another guy I really like, but will they give him a chance?

Any rumor involving Zo won't happen. Zo makes more than 20 million next year. Sterling won't pay someone the MAX, but he'll pay Zo an amount that is DOUBLE what a MAX contract is in one year? Won't happen. And they're gonna have problems making room for 2 rookies, let alone 3. Any trade LA makes is going to involve a player and a pick for a star PG, OR, moving a guy like Maggette for future picks to help clear up the rotation.

The Clips will have the money to MAX out 3 guys. Whether they do it or not is up for debate, but they can do it. They are marketable, and have sold a lot of merchandise the past couple years. They are selling out Staples Center. The money is there to pay the guys. And before people talk about 'Sterling pay 3 guys the MAX, he's never paid one that amount, it's not happening' - The Clips have never had a player that has been worth the MAX contract. Should they have paid Mo Taylor the MAX just to get people off theri backs? No. Sterling is a wise business man and isn't going to grossly overpay for something that isn't going to bring him money in return. Signing guys like Mo Taylor and derek Anderson would not have done any good for the franchise, cuz they still would have sucked, but they'd have a high payroll. Sterling may not pay the guys, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt, cuz he has never been in this situation before.
