...I wonder why....

Yep, it was on WSCR too and Real GM.

On another note, BCH is "on board" here at the Wizard forum. I think his post about the trade is on target.

I wonder if this trade gives a clue to other deals yet to come or if it's "self contained"?

I like it for the Hornet and it tells me they aren't trading Davis but are going to continue to try and win now.

If the Wizard fill their 2 needs (a 3 & a 1) via the 2 picks instead of trade/free agency they're going to be a very young team.
.....the hornets would give up a first round pick for him??? He has not proven any worth on the court, has he? least not consistently last year.

a starter?

so sicky, you believe alexander to be a starter with a contender? IF NOT, do you honestly believe he would have similar numbers as a "fill in?" I think MJ just got rid of a player he did not like(he and alexander, as I HEARD during last season, were at "odds") and in return got a bargaining chip in the form of a draft pick. I would be shocked beyond belief if he put up those kinda numbers on a decent team...FG% anyways. Heck, I am not sure if he could break the starting lineup on a decent team. FT% should stay in that range.

Bama,

CA was just not good enough to beat out Rip Hamilton and spent last season trying to work as a sub for SG and SF.

CA is a streaky guy but he can fill it up when he starts. His defense came on toward last season and he has a ton of ability.

The Wizards just could not afford to have depth at one spot like SG when they lack so much at SF and PG. If you are looking for a reason why the deal was made, look there.

competition

wesley is ALL the hornets have at SG before acquiring CA? NOTHING better at the 17th pick would be available at SG/best player in the draft that the hornets could make a deal with? Personally, having watched a LOT of the hornets games last season, with, and without mashburn, this team from TRACTOR TRAILER to LEE NAILON, was a bunch of inconsistent overachievers. IMHO.... Lets face it, it was not THAT difficult to make the playoffs in the eastern conference last year. Besides, I STILL find it difficult to swallow the idea that the hornets DID NOT know about EROB's birth defect....!!! But then I guess I digressed!!! LOL

Towards the end of the season I thought the Hornets went big with Mash at SG some. The deal says to me, 'we give up finding someone of big impact at 17, here's somebody as insurance for Mash's health problems AND who's noticably taller than Wesley for match-up purposes.'
