it's imperative that he wants to play again in TO. but would you risk the sanction of the luxury tax to keep him again til he retires? Personally, out of respect, I would.

Jefferies has stated that he could play some SG if need be. Thus I think Mo Pete playing some SG would lessen the need for Curry.

I think there is a rule where a really old veteran that re-signs with a team will only have to pay half and the league will foot the other half of the bill. I'm not too sure.

But does this effect the luxury tax... as in the whole amount?

That's correct. If a player has been in the league for at least 5 years, he can sign with a team for the veteran's minimum, which is a bit more than $1 million. The Raptors only have to pay about $600,000, and the league pays the rest.

HOWEVER, we already have 19 guys on the training camp roster (soon to be 18), and I don't think that the Raps are interested in adding DC, a one-dimentional player with little juice left in him when they can just get a younger player for half the price.

But really with more teams getting used to implementing zone defenses a sharp-shooting specialist ain't too bad to have. A 1 year deal would let Mo Pete and Vince improve their 3 pt % to where Curry is no longer needed.

I guess we have Lammond Murray too. I guess we'll see.
