He said he shouldn't have played in Charlotte. I'm almost certain that's where he further damaged his wrist. He said Eddy Curry being out pushed him to go that night.

How big is Nocioni going to become now?
You know, it might be a good thing for us to have Nocioni guarding the big scorers in the playoffs instead of Deng. While they are both rookies, Nocioni not only has the Gold Medal, but he already has a reputation around the league as a tough defender, and I think Noce will fare better with the officials.
It would be nice to have both, but what a back-up if Deng can't go. His offense is really starting to come around, he is getting to the hole much more often and shooting less 3's. And I truly believe he'll be able to play defense in the playoffs because IMO he will get respect from the officials.

I'm starting to like the idea of Noce as the primary defender too. He's quickly earned himself the rep as an agitator, and as you mentioned, his offense isn't hindering his minutes or the team's production as much as it was the first half of the season.bullsville said:

I think Andres will play very well with extended minutes. He only got 30+ minutes once in December and January and not at all in February. But in March, he played 30 or more minutes 7 times:

IF he can play like that and defend like he did on LeBron in big minutes, we shouldn't miss Deng very much at all.

The Bulls' last regular-season game is April 20.
Deng, a starter who averages 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds a game, likely will undergo surgery after an MRI Sunday night revealed a torn ligament in his wrist, which he hurt in the Bulls' 94-86 win over Memphis March 28. He played in subsequent wins at Charlotte and at home against Cleveland, but sat out Saturday's game against the Hornets because of the injury.

On topic though...I just thank Pax for Nocioni. He may be our redeeming factor come playoff time. His gold medal experience could potentially have a Ginobili circa 2003 playoffs type effect. It also wouldn't surprise me if Pax used our open roster spot to pick up another SG/SF, just as insurance. Who are some prospects?

Anyway - Noc is a great replacement , but our team depth , defense , offense all take a very big hit with Deng out. What a bad timing. Who knows , we might miss Big Ed too to be as unlucky as we can get in our first playoffs in 6 years!
