It worries me a little b/c when he's on the Nets can pretty much beat any team but if he insists on taking poor shots & not being aggressive then it's going to hurt the Nets.

...VC is missing a large portion of his shots? His field goal percentage is pretty poor for scorer like him. Most of his misses come from crazy fades and 30-footers. Does this worry anybody going into the playoffs?

No because thats the same old Vince and he still gets it done every night
he did not shoot em that bad today or yesterday vs cleveland, the fact that he missed clutch shots makes it look like he had a bad game...
when the games begin to count, carter will actually use his basketball IQ to determine what shots are smart and....which shot attempts he just shouldnt take.
I actually do find it a little worry-some. Yes, it's the same old Vince with his same shot selection, but that means he should be shooting a similar FG%. He's always been the go-to man and has always drawn double teams so that's no excuse. There's something else going on...

I really thought today's game for VC was like alright whatever, i'll just shoot or spin and score . I mean the three that he hit ( so effortlessly) and the spin he did on Bell, and the one where he just threw it up there, it touched the rim, he got his board then scored it. He played about 40% today, i actually think VC will play differentley in the playoffs, because it's more competitive and playing against top players, which he likes the most ( maybe except Kobe). He likes playing against Ray Allen/ Lebron James/ Dwayne Wade..... I am guessing in the playoffs, he'll play the same way he did against the cavs 2 days ago( not like the last 2 min though) and the games he played against Miami.
Also, he almost never passed the ball when he was iso-ed. He tried to score over multiple defenders.

Yes this worries me. I've been posting about this for a while now but most people here just don't get it. Nets1524512 attacks me personally all the time even though I explain my logic clearly and give evidence to support my position.
Bottom line is, Vince takes enough of those crazy shots that it can affect the outcome of the game negatively. This is especially unecessary when there are two 50% shooters on the team, Jefferson and Kristic.
Vince has GREAT passing ability. He should use it more when he's double teamed.
A common arguement is that Vince needs to take these crazy shots because defenses play him so hard. Well, if he is double teamed, that would me someone else (like Jefferson or Kristic) is open.
Next, people here argue that if Vince keeps passing it, he won't draw as much attention. Well, what good is drawing all that attention if you don't take advantage of it by rotating the ball around to the open man?
After that, if opponents stop double teaming Vince as much because he is passing the ball, that means Vince is in single coverage. Like T.O. in football, advantage Vince in single coverage any day.
So you see, passing the ball in those situations instead of taking fade aways or leaners or loop dee loop shots helps both the Nets and Vince at the same time.
Alas JoeOtter15, you may understand this, but many of the people who post here are Vince fans first and Nets fans second. That, or they just don't understand the fundamentals of basketball.

I believe he will play smarter basketball in the playoffs, I think he's just kind of bored right now.
but I'm a little concerned with his free throws percentage. I wish he was more consistent.. one game 10/10 and another 2/5....
he was around 85% in January if I 'm not mistaken, and now it's dropped to 80.1%.

I don't like the crazy fade aways and 30 footers, but he's been taking it to the bucket alot and playing in the post too. As long as he does alot of that, someone has to be the inefficient scorer that draws the attention from the D, so that Krstic and RJ can be the exceptionally efficient scorers that they are. Its all part of a whole. VC draws the attention, and RJ and Krstic operate in the space he creates. Nothing happens in a vacuum.JoeOtter15 said:...VC is missing a large portion of his shots? Krstic create alot of space by setting the picks.He make easy for Carter,Jefferson and Kid too.They just play terrifict team basketball on both end of the court.
Carter plays more in the paint nowadays. The fact he is willing to drive is good enough for me. Even if his shot isnt falling, have said it countless times, he is making up for it on the free throw line.
Is it possible you stop passing labels on people, it really takes a lot away from some of your posts. Good point! I remember that too, his FT% was one of the best in the league for a while, now it's dipped down to just over 80. That means his FT% is probably around 70% or so since January.jerseygirl said:it doesn't worry me

One thing that definitely does bother me is Carter's penchant for taking these kinds of shots late in the game. Even on nights where he's driving to the basket again and again, and playing in the post w/ great success, come late game, he's taking low percentage jump shots, either heavily contested (and therefore fading away), or from extremely long range. I haven't tracked it, but I wonder if as the game goes on, Carter trends more and more towards the perimeter.
