Drew Gooden signs 4 years max contract with the Grizz, so it looks like he is in the Grizz plans. Sorry Gooden haters, he is there to stay.

Doesn't mean anything. Stromile Swift was the 2nd pick for the Grizzlies two years ago and everyone knows he's going to be traded. you are also confusing people who say that the Grizzlies didn't address their needs with the 4 pick (which they didn't) as people who are "Gooden haters."

It just seems like everyone here are gooden haters. I don't want to burst your bubble, but gooden is a very very good player, and the Grizz are glad that they have him. He may not be the player you guys despretly need, but Gooden will play hard, get 15-25 minutes per game. He is a very strong rebounder, and if he plays SF, he will add part of the team that SF's rarely can do, rebound an average more than 8 per game. He may not be the perfect fit, but to be realistic, no player is a perfect fit for each team. Of course, some will say, hey Shaq is a perfect fit for the Lakers. It may appear that way, but he is not a perfect fit. He fits with the Lakers well. No one is perfect is what i am trying to say. Another aspect that Gooden will bring is Euthorization(sp) He brings emotion to the game. I know the "fans" say the Grizzlies need a SF/SG a scorer. Even though Gooden played PF at KU, he can play SF, and he does score. May not behind the arc, but He can shoot anywhere inside the arc. Also no really put this into account, in high school he was a GUARD before his growth spurt, so he does has some game in that aspect. He is a fast and agile for being around 6'9". He can take a basketball down the court. He was a college all-american for somethign to think about.

Now for Swift, one he left after his Frosh year, and i think he was not ready, and the Grizz draft him at 2? I feel tthat was very high for swift. Also, the Grizz did not gave him playing time. I looked like last year they gave up on him when drafting gasol.

Kansasalumn, not everyone here is a Gooden hater. I also thought that Butler would have been the better pick but, I still think that Gooden will prove to be real effective for the Grizz. I think he has a great upside to his game because of the mismatches he will cause for opposing teams. I'm looking forward to the season because I think he's going to end up surprising more of us with his play than disappointing. Hopefully, he'll have the type of season that will shut up all the nay-sayers and doubters who thinks he's destined to be a bust. So no man, everyone on these boards aren't against Gooden, but hoping he comes in a be a big contribitor.

We all know Gooden is a great player and could be a future star with his soft touch and speed I never questiond that. I just dident and still dont feel he was the best choice for this team. Do I want to see him play great and be the ROY after this season?

Of course. I know he will help the team but I still think on paper Butler is the better pick for this team. Im not gonna cry over spilled milk and I know that Gooden has tons of up-side and was considered the best player where the Grizz drafted. I dont think any of us are dissapointed in the pick that would be dumb, Im just hoping he's as good if not better then some other guys we could have drafted.
