how down/bad/horrible is the east compared to the west? the top 10 teams in strength of schedule are all west teams, and the bottom 11 teams in SOS are all east teams

the difference between the top team and bottom team is only .022 difference. thats not very major.

this isnt like college basketball where SOS is needed.

SOS isnt needed in the NBA. everyone plays each other at least twice. you either win or you dont win. dont blame it on the scheduling.

so you dont think playing charlotte, atlanta and new york 4 times a year makes a difference? i would much rather play those teams than the west bottom feeders like minnesota or seattle (minny has a star player and seattle was just in the playoffs last year... my personal opinion is that playing in the east is worth at least 4-6 more wins per season

Well, considering every team in the west plays almost the exact same schedule and every team in the east plays almost the exact same schedule, this shouldn't surprise you.

By the end of the season this list will polarize even further.

And the differences are so small that the fact that teams like Detroit and Dallas don't have to play themselves pushes their SOS way down the list compared to other teams in their conference.

You do know that everyone plays everybody else 2 times per year. So the difference between east and west is that you play some teams 1 or 2 additional times. really doesn't appear to be that big of a difference between the two. Heck the difference between Cleveland and Detroit is .1 and the only difference there is that Detroit doesn't get the chance to play against themselves 4 times (3 times so far this year).

What a humungous difference!
your right, that is a humongous difference, the jazz would be in the playoffs if they played in the east.
The West has better teams but East has better individual players/stars. That's why the East has won the last 2 All-Star Games.
the east is full of underachieving teams. there are a few in the west such as GSW and seattle. but if u divided the knicks roster up into 3 teams there would still be enough star power to comprehend a successful season. teams like charlotte, toronto and atlanta lose so many close games that i couldn't fathom how fans put up with it.

and of course bottom 11 SOS teams be from east, im sure if the win ratio was 501:499 in favor of west more than 10 of bottom 15 teams would be east.

if chris webber was anywhere near old C-webb the 76ers would be championship contenders ala phoenix last season having ridiculously talented starting 5 with no bench. dominant post player, top tier scorer, top tier shooter. top tier athlete and wing defender, althletic defensive minded 7 footer patrolling the paint.

and its not like its just detroit and then 14 NCAA teams. miami and nets are just below san antonio and dallas. cleveland is what ud expect from a team being willed by the best young talent in the nba

I'm a grizz fan but i like east more than west
I'll take top 4 east over top 4 west. Most of the rest falls towards the west though. Problem with the west is they have so many teams that 'should have been good' if not for injury, chemistry, whatever.

Woohoo they would get to get eliminated in the 1st round!
Uh, of course the east is going to make up the bottom and the west the top of the strength of schedule category - the west is better than the east. West teams play more west teams, east teams play more east teams. In other words, west teams play more games against better teams, east teams play more games against worse teams. What do you expect the strength of schedule stat to show?
Well the reason the strength of schedule looks the way it does is because the West keeps killing the East overall head to head. I just wish the NBA would go to unbalanced schedules to help promote actual divisional rivalries.
if your a good team, it shouldnt matter who you play. Better teams win games against worse teams, regardless of record.
