I was just wondering has anyone here who played Highschool, college, heck even junior high ball ever wonder had you continued to to play, where could it have taken you?

I honestly look back at my highschool days, and i possibly feel i could have made it to a Division 1 school had my grades been better, or had i just wanted to finish out playing my senior year. I was on varsity my freshamn-junior(i didnt play senior) year, I was 6'5, i could dunk when i was a sophmore like it was nothing and led my district in 3pt%, 3pts made and attempts. Along with about 15rebs and game with about 16pts a game...

But for some STUPID reason, my senior year i wanted a break from ball, and didnt go for the team that year. And i must admit, to this day i constantly kick myself in the rear because i was just dumb, and didnt think it would hurt me. All because i felt burnt out after playing 5 years on school teams...

every year since, i watch march madness and always wonder where could i have gone with it. Possibly UT, ATM, Texas tech...(im originally from houston texas)

anyone else go through this?

I Was the opposite, I should of played ball earlier. I was rivalising with players that had twice the experience and skills I had. No way in hell I would of made div 1 american college ball, but I would of most likely at least been able to make the starting 5 of my university. We finished with silver last year in Canada. The one who won gold were undefeated for 4 seasons straight. ****in crazy.
I stopped last year because my grades weren't good enough (had like a 1.2 somethin lol). In middle school I was the starting PF/C...but our school is very undersized, and I'm more of a SF so it was tough playin kids twice my size. Like literally, in 8th grade I was 5'6" covering kids 6'1".

I still play almost every day on the street courts, and I'm one of the better ones on the courts usually. I've really been tryin a bit and my shots getting much more accurate. I can knock down the jumpers with ease now, and the 3's are starting to come. But I've been mainly working on my driving...I've become a very effective driver and I pride myself on hitting a very high portion of my layups. Not to mention I've always been a GREAT defender...but not until recently could I score well.

I went out for wrestling this past year instead of basketball because in our school it's all about your last name. But, I'm probably going to consider going out next year and I'm sure I could easily be the starter. If you're asking if I could do anything outside of high school though? Not a chance. I'm good for around here, but there's not chance I could even get into a D3 school. Our schools nothing special in the basketball department.

I think my freshman year of high school was when I realized that I wasn't that good. I thought I was really good up until that point, and then high school is when I realized how much more athletic some of the kids were than me. I had a steady jumpshot and could handle the ball, but my lack of speed and athleticism, plus topping out at 5'10, I knew I would never be able to go to a D1 school. I played backup PG during when I made Varsity during HS as well. So yeah, HS ball pretty much put me in place. Though I do think if I played somewhere else, I would've started. I think the competition in LA High Schools is one of the tougher places in the nation.
Its just one of those things i look back and still wonder.."what if" ya know...
I mean im not saying i was good to make it to a division 1 powerhouse stater all american or anything...hahaha

But i know i could have made it on a lower division 1 school no problem. But had i just continued to do so, its just one of those things ill never know for sure. For me, in highschool, i was way above avg, the tallest kid on the team was 6'6 so i was the 2nd tallest option, and my body was of decent size. I was mainly shooter/post up/rebounder/SF/PF player really...

Yeah, the LA High Schools are probably damn good. Your cousin tore up the College league here... and now he's arguably the best PG in the Philippines.
I don't know if this counts, but I'm a freshman baseball player at an NAIA school in North Dakota, which I would say is roughly equivalent of an average NCAA D-2 school (as we've played, competed with, and beat a few).
Nowhere! I stopped playing in 9th grade because I was a 5'9 pf. I had always played post though and I didn't want to play anything else. I could always/still can guard taller players because I probably was stronger and could jump higher than them. So I just played football, now THERE'S where I have some regrets.
I started around 4th grade and quit in 6th grade because I was only about 5' tall in 6th grade and playing with 8th graders who were at least 5'8"-5'10". I was a decent player for my size because I had a huge vertical and could nail 3s but I couldn't guard kids almost a foot taller than me. I ended up growing to 6'2" and I can dunk now. I just wish I had the height in my junior high days.
My problem was that when I was in middle school, I was always way taller than everyone else. In 8th grade, for example, I was already 5'9" so my coaches always had me play PF/C. However, when I got to H.S. I stopped growing, and everyone else started growing. I played on my Freshman team, but I wasn't really that effective as a post player. My coach tried to convert me to more of a guard/swingman type but that didn't really work out so well, as my outside shot wasn't very good. Since you can't really be an effective post player at 5"9 on varsity, I didn't play anymore after that. I guess I coudl've been OK on Varsity had I kept growing, but I dooubt I wwould've been good enough to play in college.
