SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- If the San Antonio Spurs do not hold on to the top spot in the Western Conference, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

The Spurs begin a season-ending run of five straight games against sub-.500 teams Tuesday when they match up with the Seattle SuperSonics.

San Antonio, which leads Dallas by one-half game for the No. 1 seed in the West, finishes its regular season against Seattle, Orlando, Minnesota, Utah and Houston - each of which is destined for the lottery.

The Spurs snapped a two-game skid with an 83-81 triumph over Memphis on Sunday. Tim Duncan had 23 points and 12 rebounds and fellow All-Star Tony Parker added 19 points for San Antonio, which rallied from a seven-point deficit with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Seattle has won a season-best four straight games following a 116-114 victory over Phoenix on Sunday. All-Star Ray Allen scored 23 of his 30 points in the second half, including the decisive 3-pointer with 24 seconds to play.

The Spurs have won 10 of the last 13 meetings between the teams, as well as 13 of the last 16 matchups here.

bowen vs allen-making allen shoot a lot of shots with a poor feild goal percentage is almost an automatic win

rebounding-the sonics are a poor mans nuggets when it comes to getting on the floor and getting rebounds so we cant afford to just wait for the ball to land in our hands

small ball-i think were starting to get the hang of playing small ball and it could be crucial if we play the pistons in the finals. so lets practice it against a less sonics team

all in all it should be a double digit win but like last time you never know. lets get some pay back for bowen.

the pimped out solid plan would have involved the duncan/wilcox match up. Wilcox is young and athletic, duncan is... injured and in pain. he is gonna have to keep up with him.


the sonics defense is poor though, at least one of the spurs perimeter players is gonna have to have a big game.

As important as Ray is to the Supes, we should get more balanced scoring tonight from the likes of Lewis and Wilcox. Watson could be a factor as well if his sprained wrist does not prevent him from playing much (or at all) tonight. Collison could end up being a wild card for the Supes as well.

After the Suns lost in Seattle the other night, it'd make a helluva statement for the Spurs to win this big. San Antonio's not looking very energetic, though, and Duncan's just not up to speed. They'll still pull it off, most likely, but it's not the definitive performance guaranteed to remove doubts about the Spurs' ability to hold up through the Playoffs.

That's more like it :biggrin: I mean, with the Sonics--like the Suns--a big lead doesn't mean much, since they can erase it in a couple of minutes, but up 19 rocks. This should be the win San Antonio needs.
