Marquee Matchup

vs.

Last meeting, Terry Gleen burned Sheldon Brown for two TDs. Since then, Gleen has been outta Dallas' offense whereas Sheldon emerges to be the force to reckon with for Eagles defense.

It's time for payback!

GAME PREVIEW

Monday, November 14, 2005
9 PM ABC Lincoln Financial Field

As the Eagles start putting the Owens saga behind them, a team many expected to return to the Super Bowl is now just out to show it can contend for the playoffs minus the volatile superstar when the archrival Dallas Cowboys come into Lincoln Financial Field.

Though Eagles management has no plans to play Owens the rest of this season, and the players union's grievance won't be heard until Nov. 18, agent Drew Rosenhaus held out hope his client would be back with the team immediately.

.........

Now most have written off Philadelphia's chances to get back to the Super Bowl despite the team having won two playoff games last season without an injured Owens.

"That's what scares me. They're probably going to pull closer together," Cowboys tight end Dan Campbell said. "They're going to prove we can do this with who we have on the team right now. ... I'm looking for them to play the best they've played all year. We've just got to be ready to go."

................

Rookie Reggie Brown is Owens' replacement, and he did a pretty good impression of the All-Pro wideout last week. Brown had five receptions for 94 yards, including a 56-yarder for his first career touchdown.

Philadelphia's league-worst rushing attack is going up against a Dallas run defense which has held its last four opponents to an average of 63.3 yards on the ground. That stretch began with the Cowboys holding the Eagles to 19 rushing yards in a 33-10 win Oct. 9.

................

Coach Bill Parcells said he would not change his team's approach and is counting on Reid to have the Eagles very motivated.

"I expect to get a good effort from them. They've always given a good effort," Parcells said. "It's Monday night. They're at home. Why wouldn't you expect that?"

I have a good feeling about this one. With TO out of the locker room for a full week, I see the team firing on all cylinders. What scares me though is our secondary, for as well as they played last season these four guys have basically came up with a half hearted season as a group.

The Eagles are going to have to make a statement early, and I'm hoping it's by a long sustained touchdown drive to open the game. The team did a better job last week balancing things out between the run and the pass, and I hope that continues this week.

Jamal Jackson will be getting his first NFL start at Center so we'll see how he'll hold up, and I'm crossing my fingers hoping that he doesn't mess up a snap because the Eagles like to operate out of the shotgun. With Jackson out there, Shawn Andrews and Artis Hicks are really going to have to step it up.

The player who worries me the most on the Cowboys is Jason Witten, especially considering how bad a job the Eagles have done against Tight Ends this season. Talking about Tight Ends, having Chad Lewis back is a huge boon for the Eagles especially considering how poorly Steven Spach has played. If LJ is available to play tomorrow it'll give us two effective receiving options at TE.

winning this would be a big boost for the team, not only because they are showing everyone that they can win w/out T.O. but also to get back in contention in their division, which is probably the toughest in the league, GO EAGLES

The Eagles need to get a DE more than anything else in the offseason. Trent Cole played great tonight, but despite the Eagles getting 3 sacks tonight they didn't get consistent pressure on Drew Bledsoe. Trent Cole should be a good pass rush specialist next season. Jevon Kearse.. what else can I say?

I don't like Darwin Walker playing DE. Sam Rayburn played well tonight. Can't really say anything bad about the LBs, about Dawkins, Lewis, Brown, Sheppard isn't a good matchup Vs Terry Glenn.

The way the Eagles ran the ball was admirable, but it's at that point where you have to say it's too little too late. It's time for McNabb to get the surgery, and for the Eagles to start seeing who on this team can play. Some guys need to be out of town by season end.

Can't say nothing bad about the Cowboys, they weathered the storm, and stole this one in the end. I had a bad feeling once I saw the stat of the Eagles winning their last 36 games where they lead by 10 points.

Yeah, i feel for you all, but we felt the same way in week two when the Skins came back on us on MNF...I have to admit you all played hard, and looked a lot better..

I watched Deralied movie before the game. Didn't know it's gonna happened to Eagles afterwards. :verysad:

Why wasn't there double coverage on Glenn? You know Dallas is down by two scores and they'll go to the guy who catches deep balls, then why wouldn't you make a game plan for it? It isn't rocket science.

..and Reggie Brown. :curse: How on earth you dropped the ball?

It wouldn't give up on us until the last game of the seaon. It's NFC and our schedule is favorable than other 3 teams in the NFC East. We have got to win against Giants next Sunday. I never thought I would say this but McMahon should be our starting QB.

Sorry Donovan.

Big difference between Reggie Brown and Terrell Owens.
The Eagles wouldn't have won this game with Terrell Owens, so it's a moot point.

It was double coverage, Michael Lewis was never supposed to let Terry Glenn get deeper than he was. He blew the play.

It's over for this year. The Eagles are three games back of Dallas and there's only 7 games left, 0-3 in the division, it'd take monumental collapses by the other teams for the Eagles to be in the playoffs.

Oh...I watched Lito trying to cover Glenn who just flew by him. Maybe, I need to see replay again. No, wait I can't.

Still, Eagles have 3 games left against division teams (2 against Giants). And all 3 teams in our division plays their opponents who are much better than a above .500 team. I like our chances if we play with same defensive intensity as we did tonight...barring blewing few plays.
