That's just wrong. How come this league let's these players and coaches abuse the referees in this fashion?

George Karl is the ugliest mother on the planet. That referee should have pimp slapped him and then pimp slapped his momma.

Who cares? Karl got ejected anyways while that official refrained from saying anything back. If anything, the official got the best of the situation.

The only thing "wrong" about it was that Karl was trying to blame the officials on his team missing 4-5 clean looks at the basket in a row.

Did you guys actually watch the game, or just the highlights??

Because if you watched the game, you'd know what he was yelling about. The game was horribly called, and I'm not a big Nuggets supporter or an anti-Suns guy.

Karl said in his post-game comments that the consistency of the calls all throughout the game was atrocious, not just the two plays that led up to his ejection. I have to agree with him.

I was surprised Karl held his tongue as long as he did. The home team got the benefit of calls or non-calls the whole game. There were at least 2 obvious offensive goaltending calls not made against the Suns. Virtually every time Anthony drove baseline he got pushed toward the endline with no call. With a few minutes left he got kneed in the thigh (leaving him limping the rest of the game) on a drive with no call. When Voskuhl was in the game, he did moving picks on basically every play with no call.

Karl is a pretty clever fellow. He waited until the game was basically over, then put on a show of support for his players. It was pretty obvious that's what he was doing.

The league should not let coaches or players get in a referees face and yell at him like that. He should be suspended for a longer period of time.

You could tell the whole thing was staged. Karl kind of yelled for awhile and then walked off in the locker room under control.

So you are proposing that the NBA impliment new standards for coach and player interaction with the refs near the end of a season and that it should start with Karl?

What was he going to do, drop-kick the ref? He's not Steve Francis.

If you don't want people talking to the refs, take them off the floor, put them in a little box where they can watch the game from a computer screen and issue calls through giant horns

If Refs are stupid they deserve what they get

Fans and coaches of other teams complaining about officiating after playing the Suns? How new and original! (Note the sarcasm). Suns foul less than any team in the league, it's not bad officiating, just face the facts and you'll go to sleep better at night.

It doesn't "let" them. They get ejected. If the ref didn't feel like hearing it, he could have ejected him as soon as he got in his face. He knew George Karl wanted to get ejected out of frustration.

Actually George said himself the only reason he did that was because he knew it (the foul of Nash) ended the game. When you send the 5th best free throw shooter in league history to the line down by 6 with just over a minute left the game is pretty much over.

EDIT: I just checked... actually Nash ranks as the 3rd greatest free throw shooter of all time behind Rick Berry and Mark Price.

I would take Reggie Miller at the Free throw line over Nash anyday of the week, he is not the third best shooter all time, percentage does not tell everything. Also the Suns were getting alot of the calls going there way yesterday and Karl reacted the way any coach should give the ref a mouthfull and then peacefully walk off the court. Everyone has the right to be upset as long as it is verbal (non-threatening) and no contact.

Players and coaches shouldn't abuse officials and aren't allowed in the NBA. They recieve fines in addition to the technical fouls and/or ejections. Even comments made in post-game interviews earns them fines. You do expect some conversation/questions from players and coaches aimed at the referees. And they don't mind it, just as long as it is under control.

I remember Frank Layden wanting to do that. He tried to get himself ejected out of a blowout loss. The ref told him, "If I have to see this game through, so do you."
