Name a 12 man roster of the best of all-time NBA players to come off the bench.

You know, guys like:

Vinne Johnson
Bobby Jones
Michael Cooper
Cliff Robinson

etc..

Who would be the MVP of that team and what kind of record would that team have in the NBA today?

Center: Bill Walton / Alonzo Mourning
Forward: Kevin McHale / Dennis Rodman / Bob McAdoo
Forward: John Havlicek / Bobby Jones / Toni Kukoc
Guard: Michael Cooper / Ricky Pierce
Guard: Vinnie Johnson / Bobby Jackson

Obviously for players like Walton, Rodman, Mourning, etc, I'm selecting the editions that came off the bench. For Kukoc, I'm using the Chicago Bulls edition, Bobby Jackson is the Kings edition.

I think this team would do very well. In fact, I think it would be by far the best team in the league today and one of the all time great teams if it had actually been assembled. The only concern, to me, is whether Walton and Mourning could combine for 48 minutes. Of course, McAdoo could play some minutes at center also, if need be.

I think McHale would easily be the MVP of this team. He was around the height of his powers when he came off the bench.

thats really hard, because at one stage or another pretty much every player has come off the bench for a period of time, particularly a good player on a great team, for example Toni Kukoc with the Bulls.
Can't really conunt Mcadoo he was not that great when he played with the lakerrs. And also Rodman was not off the bench when he was in his prime
People are forgetting Detlef Shrempf of the Sonics. He won 2 6th Man awards & the guy is instant offense off the bench.

Detlef was hardly "instant offense" off the bench. Eddie Johnson was.

You forgot Cliff Robinson? He was the 6th man on the NBA Finals Blazers (1992), Playoffs Phoenix Suns(2000) and Soon-To-Be-Champs New Jersey Nets(2006)...

I disagree about McAdoo not being very good as a sixth man. He was quite good off the bench in LA, especially in 1983-84, when he was great.

Also, one doesn't have to play off the bench in one's prime to qualify. Rodman spent several years coming off the bench in which he was a valuable player.

No, I just didn't choose to put him on. He was a very good sixth man at one point, though.
