Warriors Denied by Nuggets

After a horrible start to their season, Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets made it back to the playoffs.

Anthony collected 32 points and nine rebounds as the Nuggets clinched their second consecutive postseason berth with a 122-106 victory over the weary Golden State Warriors.
Golden State's Baron Davis scored 28 points but mysteriously sat out the fourth quarter. Jason Richardson added 26 for the Warriors, who had to deal with the Rocky Mountain altitude one night after a double-overtime home loss to San Antonio.

BD sat out the 4th because his knee was a bit sore, and Montgomery didn't want to risk anything. He said he would have put him back in the game if the game was closer in the end. Anyway, nice game by BD shooting-wise, but just 1 assists!

Didn't expect to win on 2nd game of back to back on the road, after 2 OT, against the hottest team in the league.

Postgame Quotes

Mike Montgomery
“Denver is a team that is playing extremely well. They are a team that likes to run and we are much better with a team that plays a half court situation. They try to run you out in the first quarter, because of the altitude. We were a step slow and it showed. Denver is not a team that you want to be a step slow against. We weren’t all there. We played a lot of players. I tried to give Skita and Rodney the look here and there, because they deserve some time.”

Jason Richardson
“We had a rough road trip. We came in this morning. It is hard to adjust to the altitude, but Denver is a good team and they know the advantages of running in this altitude. (Playing with Baron Davis) He is very strong in the post. He is an all-star, a great player, who makes the team better.”

Baron Davis
“We were tired and a little sore. We had a tough one last night, but that is not an excuse. We battled back and cut it to nine with four minutes to go. That’s what happens when you play against a good team like that, they are getting prepared for the playoffs, and they are not going to show any remorse. They came out tonight and stuck it to us.”
