I hope he stays, I actually like Herm. His clock managment skills need to improve, but I think he is a good coach, and a great motivator. I think it's up to managment if they want to get rid of him.

Eight hours after a news conference in which he sounded like a man who seemed willing - perhaps ready - to move on after the season, Edwards stated emphatically to the Daily News that he wants to come back next year.

Edwards, linked with the anticipated opening in Kansas City, said he has no desire to coach elsewhere.

"No, my situation is here," he said last night in a 20-minute phone interview. "I plan on being here, period.

"I plan on coming back with the same energy level next year that I had this year, and get this thing going in the right direction. I'm not seeking another job. I plan on being the coach here."
