i think he's a great basketball player, he's done everything he can do to this point in his career, and yet he gets ripped on a daily basis, even by raptor fans.
i don't get it. i think some folks are asking that he be as good as MJ was, and that anything less is a failure. i think people should just let him be vince, with vince's limitations and his fantastic strengths. so what if he's not always ready to put the whole team on his back-- every so often, he will, the rest of the time, he's just a HUGE contributor in a team concept preached by wilkens.
so what if he got hurt-- players who are busting their butts get hurt from time to time, and players who are playing when they shouldn't be get hurt even worse. that's vince. he wanted so bad to be tough, to play hurt the way his fans expected, that he injured his knee even worse, and picked up some collateral damage on top of it.
i say let vince be vince-- let him develop and mature at his own pace. he may yet become as great as he was hyped early on, but not if he's constantly hurting himself just to live up to expectations that are unrealistic.
