But I'm done with him. What an unprofessional moron. Tonight's performance, or lack thereof, was inexcusable. Ship him out for a pack of gum.

I just hope there's a team in existance for the pack of gum to play on next year.

Fear not my faithful,as a die had Knick fan I can assure you Zeke will get his man....We only have Paul Allen to thank for nor shipping him over before the trade deadline.....
There was a chant of "No more Miles." in the hallways after the game. I personally gave him a boo more than once. How do we get these lazy morons who take the money and run? I should say walk.
If it wasn't for watching Webster I may have thrown up.
blake and miles for who?
Miles is 1-for-11 from the field with just two points and three rebounds in his last three games. :hurl:
Imagine if one of the executives in your company was pulling down over a million a year in salary plus bonuses. Now imagine if he showed up late every day, took a 3-hour lunch break, and went home early. Imagine if he had nothing to contribute at company meetings, dozed off constantly while other people were talking, and had no ideas and almost nothing to contribute to the success of the organization. How long do you think he would last?

Darius Miles is the equivalent of that company executive.
I enjoyed his half-hearted airballs last night. It gave me a good chuckle or two.

By the way, that one made shot out of 11 was a dunk last night, and he almost got rejected on it, too.
ha could do better
It is sad because we saw glimpses of what Darius could be early in the season. I LOVED his game. Now he is the laziest player to grace an NBA floor. It is painful to watch. Might it have something to do with his surgery? That might be wishful thinking, but if that is the case I think he should be sitting out until it gets better instead of moping around the court and hucking up airballs.

I do think there's something to his knee bothering him, but if it is bothering him, shut it down (big man!).

But I'm not personally convinced thats as much the issue (overall) as his apathetic attitude is.

I think it's just because the season is over and he's went into auto mode. Not saying it's right but he has changed once he figured no way we'd make the playoffs.

It shouldn't have taken Darius more than a week into the pre-season to figure out we weren't making the playoffs.
It's obvious that Miles is doing everything he can to get traded. However, the guy will soon be traded to his 4th team. Journeyman bust. What a waste.

Most likely it was after the trading deadline pass without a trade being made that sealed it for Miles. He was still here and we didn't bring in anyone to help so he put it on auto cruise.
I was a big Miles defender at the beginning of the year. The Punisher. Even injured, he continued to contribute until he finally went for the surgery.

I think Miles was tentative about the knee and not in game shape when he first came back. But he still managed to average 14.25 points and 6.75 rebounds per game in his first 4 games. I still defended him.

Then Ruben was traded; and Miles wasn't.

In the game the day the New York deal apparantly fell through (thanks to our very non basketball savvy nerd-fan-owner) I remember posting that Miles played like a guy who thought he was going to be traded, or was disappointed that he wasn't. Now I know the answer, I think.

In his next three games, he still scored an effortless 14.66 ppg; but his rebounding fell to 2.33. A clear reflection of effort, IMO.

Then Nate decided to try bringing him off the bench. Granted, his minutes were somewhat reduced, but he produced only 12.2 points and 3.77 rebounds per game over the next 9 games. And that includes a 20 point, 7 rebound, 4 assist win against Phoenix in the middle of that stretch. Nate chose to continue bringing him in off the bench.

Finally, on March 18th he started and played a great game with 26 points (11-18), 6 rebounds and 4 assists against Milwaukee.

In the very next game, again against Milwaukee, he was back on the bench, and responded with zero (0) points and zero (0) rebounds in 17 minutes.

Coincidence?

The game after is when he got his DNP after "falling asleep on the sofa." (At least, I think that's right?)

Coincidence?

And now he's working on a new nickname, perhaps the anti-Punisher, a very non super hero called "Airball" or something.

Yeah, I don't know what going on in his head, but I'm guessing he want's out, and he's forcing a trade.

I just wish he'd used the Ruben Patterson approach -- promise to trade me and I'll play my *** off. Don't follow through, and I'll be your biggest headache ever.

Or maybe that's what already happened?

The other thing I thought, and what you wrote seems to back it, he doesn't like not starting.

I also think he wants out but is caught in a catch 22, if he plays good PA will want to keep him but if he plays bad no one else will want him. So he's just on auto cruise.

Yeah, that was one of my main points in the first place. But I forgot to say so. :clown:

The dude's on strike. Even when he plays a good game, he stays on the bench. On possibly the worst team in the NBA. "So, screw it," says he. "It doesn't matter what I do, so screw you too (coach)." Not really the kind of winning attitude we are looking for on our team, me thinks.

I was thinking a variation of the same thing. That if he'd played up to his ability, no way Allen would trade him. Whether he consciously thought the same thing, maybe; maybe not.

I kind of favor the idea that this is simply his way of pouting his way into a trade, without putting a lot of thinking into it. I mean, he could always play well to up his trade value; then swear he'll refuse to report to camp, a la Jermaine. But he isn't.
