That would be like getting 2 Antoine Walkers. SWEET! Anyway, aside from the typo, that's not a bad deal because Howard seems to be progressing quite nicely and would be a great addition for the future. Najera would replace the energy lost from Patterson. The only thing here is that Wahad's contract is horrible and he's pretty much always on the IR. If he played up to his draft expectations, that would be a huge plus. Walker... well... you know, everyone knows. I'd do it though, I'm ready for some change.

This is a terrible deal still

I like Najera's hustle and all but overall this stinks. We are giving up a $17 mil expiring contract for more money on the books for like 4 more years... and for what?????

Walker, Delk and Najera????

why not just Sheed walk for this offer... your not going to build a team around Zach, Woods, Outlaw and any of these players as a centerpiece...

not good IMHO :nonono:

I don't buy it - especially not for 3 more years and $22 million after this year.

Using my new criteria for evaluation Wallace trade ideas (found here), I have to say no to this deal.

All it does is provide a potential long-term solution at SF in either Howard or in Walker. It hurts the cap situation in 2005 by $6 million even if Walker is allowed to walk away. The Blazers can do better.

Walker Expires in 2005 or can opt out after this season.
Najera owed 17.35Mil(total) through 2008
Wahad 21mi{total)l through 2007

Patterson 19mil through 2007

So it would commit more money out indeed.

A modification that could be made that would not handcuff Portland so much would be to take on Delk instead of Wahad. Delk expires after the 2006 season and only makes just over 3 mil a year.
