Everybody post their predictions for the 2002-03 NBA season here. Don't discuss--just predict. We should have just one post per user. EVERYBODY DO IT. We're going to hold onto these predictions. At the end of the season, we're going to figure out who did the best job. So yeah, this is a contest. Whoever wins gets the satisfaction of knowing that everybody in here KNOWS that HE knows MORE about the NBA than EVERYBODY ELSE in here.

Here's what all to include in yr predictions:

1 Final standings for each conference and final Won-Loss records. Make sure they add up, i.e., the total number of wins should obviously equal the total number of losses (use your calculator on yr PC!)

2 Playoff predictions

3 MVP winner and MVP runner-up

4 1st and 2nd Team All-NBA

5 Scoring champ and the runner-up

6 Rookie of the Year & All-Rookie Team (just the 1st team)

7 Top 5 "bust out" players

8 Coach of the Year and runner-up

9 Which coaches will get fired before the All-Star Break

10 Five worst teams (i.e., the teams with the best shot at winning The Lebron James Sweepstakes, in order from worst to fifth-worst)

11 Sixth Man Award winner

12 Defensive Player of the Award winner

If you feel like making additional predictions, FANTASTIC! As for determining the "winner" (the EXPERT), here is the scoring system:

1. Minus one point for each game off you are predicting each team's W-L record. Example: If you say that the Clippers are going to win 50 ballgames, and they only win 40 ballgames, that's minus ten points. And FELLAS: When you are picking each team's W-L record, make sure that the TOTAL number of wins among the 29 teams is EQUAL to the TOTAL number of losses. PCs have calculators, and if you don't know how to use a damn calculator, who cares what you think about anything, ANYWAY!

2. Plus 10 points for correct NBA Finals champ, plus 10 points for correct NBA Finals representatives, plus 5 points for correct Conference Finals representatives. Example #1: If you pick the Lakers to win it all, and they do, that's plus 25 points--10 points for winning the championship, 10 points for being in the NBA Finals, plus 5 points for being in the Conference Finals. Example #2: If you pick the Nets to win it all, but they actually LOSE in the NBA Finals, that's plus 15 points--10 points being in the NBA Finals, plus 5 points for being in the Conference Finals. Got it?

3. Plus 10 points for correctly picking the MVP winner, plus 5 points for correctly picking the MVP runner-up. Example: If you pick Tracy McGrady to win the MVP, but he is the runner-up instead, you get zero points. You gotta get it RIGHT!

4. Plus 2 points for correctly picking members of 1st and 2nd Team All-NBA. That's 2 points PER correct prediction. Example #1: If you pick Dirk Nowitzki to make the first team, but he only makes the second team, that's zero points. You gotta get it right!

5. Plus 10 points for correctly picking the scoring champ, plus 5 points for correctly picking the runner-up. Example #1: If you pick Allen Iverson to win the scoring title, but he finishes second, that's zero points. Again, you gotta get it right!

6. Plus 10 points for correctly picking the Rookie of the Year. And plus 2 points for correctly members of the 1st Team All-Rookie Squad. Again, that's 2 points PER correct prediction.

7. Plus 10 points for correctly picking the Coach of the Year, plus 5 points for correctly picking the runner-up. But again, you GOTTA GET IT RIGHT!

8. Plus 2 points per correct "Which coaches get fired before or during the All-Star Break?" answer. And MINUS 2 points per INCORRECT answer. You get rewarded for being right, but you get punished for being wrong.

9. We can't exactly quantify "Bust out" players, so we won't. Bragging rights only.

10. Plus 5 points for correctly picking the Sixth Man Award winner. No runner-up. Fewer points for this award because it's a lesser award.

11. Plus 5 points for correctly picking the Defensive Player of the Year. No runner-up. Again, fewer points for this award because it's a lesser award.

Wilt, make sure you eventually post each team's W-L record. Yeah, it takes some time, but DO IT. Otherwise, you're not eligible for the contest! The only way you can win the title of "Official Basketballboards Genius" is if you follow the instructions above to a TEE!

SURPRISE TEAMS THAT COULD GET ON A ROLL!
Miami Heat: I'm not talking playoffs but if Butler has a great year they could surprise some people, and Eddie is still there, along with Grant, and they are always the best defensive team in the NBA, but they will need big years out of House, Best, and El Amin if they want to win those games when they hold the oppoent down on offense.

Philly 76ers: Already a great defensive team, if Allen has a MVP year and Todd says healthy and Dalembert has a GREAT year defending they could be something, but they would need Kieth to have a great year, same with Monty, and would need scoring out of Clancey down low, and would need Salmons to play some PG at times, but they are very talented and could be a very good team if everything plays out.

Utah Jazz: I had them have a good year in my post, well they would need big years out of Karl and John, but I really like the add of Jackson as vet backup PG, and if Kirilenko keeps getting better, if DeShawn has his breakout year, if Collins keeps improving and if they can get low post scoring out of Curtis they could be pretty damn good, along with Harpring defending and scoring on the wings and if Padgett can spell Karl in games.

Milwakuee Bucks: Obvious talent, just need the 3 good young big men to mature fast, just think if they had Dan, Sampson, and Joel at center, Haslip on the PF wing, get vets in Toni and Mason, good defender in Ollie, great backup SG in Redd, slasher in Tim, believe me they could have a great year if it goes to plan.

Atlant Hawks: If Theo plays all year long, is Nazr improves on his defense and him and Theo play as the 4 and 5 at times, if Shareef has a mild MVP like season passing, rebounding and scoring, if Davis becomes the main at PG and Terry can play the SG on offense PG on defense, if Dickau provides spark off the bench, if DeMarr comes into his own and scores around 15-17 ppg and if Big Dog does what he did on the Bucks put better, very talented team.

Teams I don't count as a surprise if they do well.
*Houston
*Golden State
*Chicago
*Washington
*Toronto

P.S. Would say the Knicks in a heart beat but no McDyess, no Spreewell....well that is to much to overcome!

Sorry to break this to ya, but you have Sacramento twice in your rankings. Also, if you meant for them to be Seattle, they would be playing the Lakers in the first round and Dallas would be playing Minnesota. You got the playoff tree messed up all over.
