Is Lebron James better than Jordan in his prime...

3287 Views 104 Replies 52 Participants Last post by  futuristxen
now? Look at what James has done in the past few games, continously 40+ points, dishing out triple double and more importantly, his role players are non-existently like there is no difference between having a Pippen or a Jud Buchler on the floor? Completely dominate the basketball like he doesnt need anyone to touches it.

Will he be better than Jordan? Anyone?

I dunno about jordan, but he's about 10 times the player penny in his prime was.

Not until he reaches an all-nba level defensively, and proves himself in the playoffs. Until then, as of right now there really is no comparison.

i like Lerbon, but no. if this becomes an every night thing...definitely. can't compare a season stretch to MJ's career...not to mention his prime

Obvious is answer is YES with an emphasis on the word "will". Lebron is 21 years old and he's putting impressive numbers comparable to Jordan. Is he better than Jordan in his prime? NO, MJ will kill Lebron. Like I said before, all the knock on his defense will be erased in due time. The Kid just has it in him. I just hope people stop overrating everything he does...

BTW Is it just me? Or is anyone else irritated when the media calls him "King James"?As of this point Prince James sounds a bit fair... Imagine if he starts winning Championships...will they start calling him "Almighty Lord James"?
No, he's not as good as Jordan in his prime yet. Jordan was a better scorer, posting around 1.22 PPS in his prime, while James is putting up a 1.13 PPS, which is great but quite a ways below Jordan.

James' assist rate is very similar to Jordan's prime assist rate.

Jordan was perhaps a tick better in terms of rebound rates, but they are very similar there, as well.

However, Jordan had a huge advantage on defense, as he was an elite defender while James is average at the very best.

So, due to Jordan being a significantly more efficient scorer (while being equally prolific) and a much better defender, his prime is still a level that James can't measure up to. It's possible James could get there, but he'll need to raise his game a lot, especially on defense.
John, we know your true feelings on LeBron James. Since he uses the pick and roll, he will never be better than Jordan.

lol: this one is easy NO lebron James is not as good as a prime Jordan yet. Thanks for trying to stir up some resentment against James though, John
LeBron is not even @ his prime yet. Right now, Jordan in his prime was clearly the better player. Statistically LeBron is very comparable but Jordan was still 10X the defender LeBron is right now & Jordan was sick in the clutch.
Diffrent type of player. Lebron's making his own name. He's only 21. And he's going to the playoffs for the first time. Let's see if he can start building his legend this year.

Dwayne Wade is more like Jordan.
Lebron is more like...no one. You can find small aspects in his game that are like this player or that player. But as for the total package, we've never seen this before. And when all is said and done, he'll be judged by his rings, not his stats. So he hasn't even started yet.

WTF is a PPS?
Points per shot. Counting free throws drawn and hit, and the different point values for twos and threes, how many points does a player generate every time he attempts to score.

that's his nickname though. It's like how AI is the Answer. Paul Pierce is the Truth. It's how these things work. King James--like the Bible. Interesting that that nickname would come to prominence in this day and age.
I think LJ's the best player in the league right now but c'mon......let him taste some success in the postseason. Win some MVPs, titles, improve his D a lot.....You know, that type of stuff.

LeBron definitely has the tools to be one of the absolute greatest.
ugh, why do i have the feeling this thread was created to bring out the bron haters??

Because it was created by John to distract from the love that's been going on about Wade and Lebron today.

John is smart like a fox. He can't stand LeBron so he mock praises him against the GOAT so that there will be massive backlash against LeBron. The evil genius is unparalleled.

He's only called King James because of the obvious allusion to history. If his name was Hamilton or Johnson he wouldn't be called King, so I don't know why people hate that nickname so much.
