Is Rodney Carney the sweetheart this year?

It was Deng & Iggy in 04,
Gerald Green in 05,
Rodney Carney in 06?

Toronto fans still looking for the highlight reel swing?

Deng is highlight reel material  what about Rudy Gay?
Gay is more a complete player, well rounded, I look at him in 2 ways best outcome Shawn Marion Worst outcome Morris Peterson

He can be a highlight real but he looks more like a complete team player unselfish, great jump shot but if he wants can take it to the rack ansd throw it down hard.

carney puzzels me if we draft him where do we fit him he is a natural SF and we need a SG could carney make a sucessfull transition to SG?

he is the highlight dunking machine on this draft but the question is do we need him?

I'm talking about players who are the "sexy" picks. Deng isn't much of a flashy player I know but he was someone we talked about on the forum around this time a few years back so I included him anyways.

As for Gay I think he's out of reach. We'll probably land the sixth-eighth pick. We didn't talk about Marvin Williams Jr. last year and I think it will be the same situation this time. Plus Gay is basically strictly an SF and that's not a position we're desperate to fill.
Oh I get ya, for Toronto's pick. My bad

He shoots so many threes (7 or 8 a game) I think he'll prefer to be a perimeter player with some slashing ability rather than a forward. Maybe something like Ricky Davis where he is somewhere in between a 2 and a 3.

And why in the world do you think Gay isn't a 3/4? He won't be playing any SG in the NBA.
yea I relized now that Gay is SF/PF sort of what we have with Grahem but Joey is very raw

falls intio that Marion Harrington M.Williams Villinueva Odom catogary as combo 3 &4 players

He cannot play power forward. He's a 6'8" wing player.
sign me up for Patrick O'Bryant... If he stays in the draft, and we in the 6-9 range...

I definetely see him as more of a SF, and we already have a young player in Joey Graham that we are trying to turn into a SG, so having two would kinda be overkill.

If we didn't have an excellent SF prospect in Charlie, then maybe, but I don't see Carney as one of our top priorities, even tough I love his explosiveness and raw athleticism.
^^ yea man. carney can shoot, dribble, n dunk. how bout a little vince carter resemblance? carter couldnt shoot the 3 wen he came into the league and was only a highlight reel. how bout carney being a carter type player? i'd love to see that since we are goin 2 b a fast break team.
I like Carney as a player, and even in retrospect, I'd take any of GG, Deng, or Iggy on my team right now... so I don't know what's so bad about being a sweetheart or a "sexy" pick.
Yeah I like Carney too but personally, for this team, I'd rather have Ronnie Brewer.

But then again, you can never have too much talent. Guys like Mo and Graham probably wouldn't be that hard to move if we really had to.
Personally, yeah, I am still looking for a high-flying, mad-dunking wing player. I would also like one that can create off the dribble, and I'm not sure Carney is that guy. However, thinking about it, I'm not sure if Sam's team needs a dribble drive two guard with so much PG-Bosh action. We need guys that can shoot and finish in the lane- Joey, Mo, and Carney would be a good rotation of players in that mold.
Shelden Williams is the guy we have to draft. Period.
^^ yea, he had an amazing tourney.
Carney is more than just flashy dunks.
Carney just hurt his draft stock tonight. Love his quickness and athleticism but does he have the skills to be a true wing scorer? Disappeared in the biggest game of his life.

All the 'name' guys were disappointing. Shows how weak this draft class is.

Brandon Roy really stood out as a warrior that carried his team. Will he break out like DWade did at the pro level? Very unlikely but nobody saw that kind of jump for DWade either. Same size issues. Both too small for SF and not seen as primary ballhandlers.

The UCLA center is interesting. Legit 7 footer with great feet and hands. Possible Camby-like player if he has the instincts for shot-blocking, which few players do. Like him better than OBryant and Noah for now. Big test for Noah against the LSU boys. If he folds like Aldridge he falls down the draft.

I think Splitter and Bargnani are looking better to many GM's with the US kids blowing it under the spotlight.
