Might be best known for his consistently rugged play. He gets on the glass and plays hard. Habel can score in the paint and will do what is required and asked of him. Height wise he’s not the ideal power forward size, but he manages to get things accomplished.

Habel averaged a triple double last season at scoring 20 points, pulling 12 rebounds and blocking 11 blocks a game.

Jerome Habel is a 6'9", 210 pound center/forward from the Marriott Hospitality Public Charter High School in Washington, D.C. Jerome gets more out of his 6-9 body than most kids bigger than him. He’s long, blocks a ton of shots and nabs tough rebounds in traffic. Schools have been hesitant to go hard after him because of academics but from what we’ve seen on the court the last two years, he is definitely high-major. Habel averaged a triple double last season at scoring 20 points, pulling 12 rebounds and blocking 11 blocks a game and has a short hook shot down to a science.

Dang, from the title I thought he was going to UF. 11 blocks a game? Holy moly, this kid is going to be fun to watch.

Forgot to mention, FSU is going to be a real contender next year. I played against Jason Rich when he went To Lake Highland Prep. And wow this kid has a awesome shot and tremendous leaping ability.

Charlotte, you think Rich can

make an early contribution? I heard from one AAU coach that he was a good mid-range shooter but needed to work on the deep shot.

I'm actually expecting FSU to have a dropoff next year while the youngsters learn, but hopefully get set up for a great season in 2005-06. I think the loss of Tim Pickett and Nate Johnson in the backcourt is going to be HUGE. Way beyond scoring. Its their leadership we will miss, and be lost for a long time without it.
