Obviously I don't get Atlanta games (I mean, honestly, outside of those with League Pass who does?) but I've noticed lately from Atlanta's boxscores that Josh Smith has started to take and hit three-pointers. In fact, he's hit at least one three in 7 of his last 8 games after only hitting one on the season. And tonight, he went a pretty remarkable 4-6 from three. What happened? Has he finally learned to shoot?
I think many people had just about given up on him, seeing as he hadn't really shown any improvement from last season. Now it seems like all of a sudden he's added new elements to his game. His numbers have been much more impressive lately.
Here are some of his more notable games from February/March:
Feb 15 at Lakers: 21 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks
Feb 21 at Pistons: 10 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 blocks
Feb 24 at Pacers: 9 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 blocks
Feb 27 vs. Nets: 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks
Mar 04 at Heat: 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals
Mar 15 at Knicks: 9 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 blocks
Mar 17 vs Jazz: 18 points (4-6 3PFG), 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks
Pretty impressive. It seems like he's starting to develop an all-around game. Obviously he's still pretty inconsistent, and I don't know if his mid-range game has improved much, but these type of numbers are encouraging.
I'm also going to go ahead and predict that he'll have at least one quadruple-double in his career.
BTW: We never see threads about players from the Hawks, so could this please just stay on the main board?
