thats a terrible trade, caron butler is the only player in that deal that has a chance at being a star, Maruice Taylor isnt much better or worse than Brian Grant, Jimmy Jackson is a bit better than Jumaine Jones but the Houston Rockets are giving away players that have no chance of making an all-star team while the lakers give away Caron who is destined for the All-NBA teams and Jumaine Jones who is only 25 and is a good rebounder and produces when he gets minutes, 8-6 off the bench isnt bad, maybe he'll get sum starting time and show wut he can really do

Kind of unrelated

This is kind of unrelated.. But. WOW. I never realized that Juwan Howards stats were that solid. The contract is bad I believe. But 17-7 isnt bad at all...

First trade good for Rockets.
Second one is not bad either.

Yao/ Deke
Howard/ Grant /Pagett
Jim Jackson(Butler) / Nachbar
TMac / Sura
Ward / Sura /Gaines

Looks like a contender

I agree totally. For the first trade, the Lakers aren't gonna trade a potential All-star for a spare pg that may not be better than what they already have. The rest is a wash. The second trade is a smidge better but with the offense you get with Howard, you lose the defensive grit with Grant. All of their stats are similar except ppg, but Grant does it in 5 less minutes per game. Are those few extra points and a spare pg worth a nice prospect in Douthit and a potential all-star in Butler..no way!! And the third trade I don’t do either because the Lakers lose a PF that can spend some time at the C. Taylor would probably spell Grant at the PF spot but I don’t think Taylor can play the C at all. JJ’s decent, but the Lakers are stacked at his spot. So even though it may be more equitable than the other trades, its not the right trade for the Lakers.

Taylor doesn't rebound or defend at all. Do you see how much he is paid??

Until now, the Lakers have avoided those monster contracts to mediocre players. We certainly don't want Taylor at 8.4 million or too short Weatherspoon at 5.8 million.

We'll give you Devean for J.Jackson:yes:

nuh uh, JJ is a keeper. Best bargain in the NBA, solid 3 point shooter, good defender, leader on and off the court... no way Houston's giving him up.

I don't see any significant trades being worked out by Houston from now 'til the season, we just don't have much to offer, and therefore can not receive anything significant in return.

You acts like Grant is not an albatross bad contract.
He'll make freaking 13.4 mil next year and has 3 year left.

Taylor can give you 17 pts as a starter. Instant offense.

Caron is not that good if he plays for a good team like Lakers.

Stats prediction 04-05 only

7 pts, 3 rebs.

make it easy:

Howard/Spoon for Grant. Rockets don't need Butler.
