dude, wheres lebron at C for the SF (Larry Johnson was a PF wasnt he??), why isnt shaq the PG, Elgin baylor instead of Adrian Dantly, Jason Kidd as the PG for the PGninjarr said:I was talking to my friend about this- which players would you use to craft a starting five out of if they all had to be of one position? Which team would be the best? You're choosing players in their prime, obviously- the number of point guards who can play center and vice versa are rather limited
As you can tell, I need a bunch of help in filling some pretty glaring holes (Dantley at C for the SG position?), so help is appreciated.
Swingmen go into either category.
PG:
PG: John Stockton
SG: Allen Iverson
SF: Oscar Robertson
PF: Penny Hardaway
C: Magic Johnson
SG:
PG: Dwyane Wade
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Michael Jordan
PF: Tracy McGrady
C: Adrian Dantley
SF:
PG: Scottie Pippen
SG: Larry Bird
SF: Grant Hill
PF: Dominique Wilkins
C: Larry Johnson
PF:
PG: Kevin Garnett
SG: Connie Hawkins
SF: Dirk Nowitzki
PF: Karl Malone
C: Tim Duncan
C:
PG: Arvydas Sabonis
SG: Kareem Abdul Jabbar
SF: Wilt Chamberlain
PF: Hakeem Olajuwon
C: Shaquille O'Neal
I think the power fowards definitely take it, followed by the point guards and small forwards, respectively. I wouldn't want to trot out the centers or the shooting guards though.

How about...
Antoine Walker-PG
Dirk Nowitzki-SG
Kevin Garnett-SF
Amare Stoudemire-PF
Tim Duncan-C

Neither the All Time or this PF team (plus, I consider Kililenko a PF) could actually bring the ball up the court. Toine and KG are both pretty amazing in their ballhandling abilities, but they'd have a tough time getting it past half court against the speed of DWade/Kobe/Jordan and company.Mike luvs KG said:I think:
PG: Lebron James
SG: Tracy McGrady
SF: Ron Artest
PF: Shawn Marion
C : Andrei Kirilenko
Would beat that team.
Scoring isn't the issue - it would be about what team could D up. The PF team would have a real hard time keeping people in front of them, while the SF team would match up nicely. Lebron on Walker, McGrady on Dirk, Artest on Amare, Marion on KG, AK on Duncan.... they could guard that team.
I'd hate to leave Amare out of any list, but remember, SFs are usually good man to man defenders. I'm not really sure Amare has proved himself on that level. Still, Dirk is an excellent choice for the three- small forwards need to be able to penetrate, post up, create, and take the outside shot. Amare is missing one of those.dwade3 said:dude, wheres lebron at C for the SF (Larry Johnson was a PF wasnt he??), why isnt shaq the PG, Elgin baylor instead of Adrian Dantly, Jason Kidd as the PG for the PG
Shift Dirk into SG so Amare can go SF, quite flawed i must say
Reggie is the perfect SG- I don't think I'd bump a prime Kobe for him though.bbasok said:Where is Reggie Miller?
OMG u have Antoine Walker in the pg spot...other players may never see the ball.jericho said:I'll assemble a team from active players. Reaching back into history for the all-time greats feels too easy.

Yup Dirk needs to move to SF, KG to PG, and Antoine to SG/chucker.KOBEDUNKEDONSHAQ said:OMG u have Antoine Walker in the pg spot...other players may never see the ball.
